I've put it off for a year and a half now, and I got a lot of shit + tax season to deal with the first half of 2010 so I'm planning on just doing the Becker review starting next summer
it's serious $$ but I need to be spoonfed the study material and study methods because I'm the worst studier ever. one of my buddies that passed it says he failed a couple of sections trying to do it on his own but it was so easy after he went through the Becker review
also, you should join the NC CPA Society, I think you get like a $400-500 discount off Becker Review and I'm pretty sure the membership is only like 40/50 (I'm not entirely sure on that, my firm pays for that) 12/20/2009 3:11:17 PM |

Yeah, the people I know who still haven't passed just aren't getting serious about studying. Like, they sign up for classes and don't go or they go but that's all they do. Always saying shit like, "I had meant to study tonight, but fuck it, let's go out." I think as the years pass, they just stop caring about it. Like, other things in life become more important than studying for and passing the test.
I know multiple people who eventually passed without the Becker review or any course. Of the people I know who passed, nobody has taken it more than twice. 12/21/2009 10:26:33 AM |

Passed it back in 03, last session before it moved to this new electronic format. Not sure how it is now, but I've heard generally good things about Becker. Since you only have to take one part at a time now, I think that should help. 12/21/2009 10:44:38 AM |

Fiance passed all parts last year (on the first try) and is now a CPA.
Studying will be your life. The people who treat it like a regular college exam or SAT/GRE will fail it.
The Becker review stuff is almost required from what I have seen.
My brother's fiance and her friends have started taking in and a few of them have failed multiple parts. They don't study enough and thought they could walk in and pass with little difficulty. 12/21/2009 10:50:46 AM |

I've passed all 4 parts on the first try. I had it easier b/c I went through the MAC program and did the review sessions before I started my job. But, the only advice I have is to work every single practice question you can get your hands on. Just going through the Becker review course isn't enough IMO. 12/21/2009 10:52:11 AM |
