^^^^ I'd put Warner ahead of Eli and Palmer in that list.
Also you forgot ROFLberger. He did have a 500 yard game a couple of weeks ago and I think he has 4000 yards this season.

I would say yeah because so much is put on QB's nowadays since the NFL has become a passing league...
and Warner isn't an afterthought, he'll be a HOF'er when it is all said and done 12/29/2009 10:34:32 PM |
Jaybee1200 Suspended 56200 Posts user info edit post |
^^^ that wasnt in any order except who came to mind first
yeah, Warner will probably be a HOF, but I meant more so right now at this point in time...

there's also the matter of those two trophies he's got, one of which came in his second season

I'm just backing up your theory that we might be in the best QB era ever by naming a couple other better than average QBs 12/29/2009 10:48:25 PM |

I know, just dont think they are there yet... of course, it matters what average you are using... still would need to see another year from them 12/29/2009 10:49:46 PM |

I consider Rodgers, Palmer, Schaub, Eli, and Romo to be average QB's.
Rodgers might be slightly above average, but the rest are good - not great. Warner is in Rodgers' company IMO, but his longevity will make him a sure-fire HOF'er.
So that leaves us Peyton, Rivers, Brady, Brees, McNabb, and Favre.
That's still a damn good era to live through. 12/29/2009 10:56:16 PM |

I dont know... I wonder if anyone has calculated an "average QB season" at some point... 12/29/2009 10:57:20 PM |

Warner and Rodgers... good but not great QB's this year.
however Warner is a surefire HOF'er because of his career longevity. 12/29/2009 10:59:41 PM |

1. He said era, not year
2. wtf are you talking about longevity
Longevity doesn't win MVPs or Super Bowls 12/29/2009 11:00:32 PM |

i think part of the reason is that starting in 2004 the league started more closely enforcing the illegal contact rule. relative to years past when defenders could at times mug recievers downfield, its much easier to get open in the post 2004 enforcement era

The OP compared Warner to Hasselbeck.
fucking hasselbeck
and yet your panties are filled with sand and little green army men over a comparison to rodgers.
and no, longevity DOESN'T win mvp's or super bowls. but mvp's and super bowls don't get you into the hall of fame either. signed, rich gannon and mark rypien 12/29/2009 11:04:43 PM |

i don't think favre really count as part of "this era." his era contained the likes of aikman, montana, and young. i'm also hesitant to put mcnabb and warner up there as well considering how long they've been playing at that level, compared to the younger stars (ryan, flacco, ROFLberger, rivers, etc) 12/30/2009 3:33:32 AM |

the best QB era will always be the current one
at least until the NFL stops their trend of making things as easy as possible for QBs 12/30/2009 4:00:40 AM |
