For those who care:
Soundgarden reunion shows in the works Jan. 3, 2010
Quote : | "Rocker Chris Cornell has confirmed Soundgarden will return in 2010 for the first time in 12 years.
The band split in 1997, but former frontman Cornell recently gave hope to fans by admitting he would 'never count out' the idea of a reunion. Now the singer has confirmed the rockers, including guitarist Kim Thayil, bassist Ben Shepherd and drummer Matt Cameron, are back together and planning a series of concerts.
In a post on his Twitter page, Cornell writes, 'The 12-year break is over and school is back in session. Knights of the Soundtable ride again!'
All four members attended a Pearl Jam show in Los Angeles in October when Cornell briefly reunited the grunge supergroup Temple Of The Dog, and plans for a Soundgarden reunion are said to have taken shape shortly afterwards." |

Should be some good shows.1/4/2010 1:43:46 AM |

I think this will work like Pavement in reverse.
Soundgarden, renowned in their day for excellent shows, will be a shadow of their former selves, especially Cornell.
Pavement, renowned for being fucking terrible and not caring about it, will get their shit together and blow people's heads off.
Hopefully they're both awesome. ] 1/4/2010 1:51:58 AM |

i'm kind of hoping they just stick to shows and don't bother with a new album. chris cornell's songwriting has been pretty lackluster since euphoria morning. 1/4/2010 6:56:45 AM |

Well, if they go back to the old formula, Kim Thayil will be writing the songs and the band will fucking ROCK 1/4/2010 7:44:52 AM |

I seriously hope I'll be able to catch a show. I don't care if it involves a new album and I don't care if they sound like crap. I didn't get to see them in the 90's and this is the best I can get. 1/4/2010 2:53:55 PM |

Chris Cornell was one of the greatest rock 'n' roll singers who ever lived.

i'm not a huge fan of their last 2 albums, and i'm pretty sure the band even hates riot act even though it does have a couple solid songs on it. binaural is a completely different album on vinyl though. and they're still awesome live.

I saw Cornell at Projekt Revolution (I know, I know. I was only there to see Cornell because I had never seen him live.) and I was very pleased with the way he performed a couple of Soundgarden songs. While his voice does sound much different in his newer songs, it seems that he still has the chops to at least leave Soundgarden fans satisfied. 1/5/2010 4:16:36 PM |

Obviously the best soundgarden song is "kyle petty (son of richard)"
their version of come together is pretty cool too

funny update
it's a rumor floating around that pj and soundgarden (which means of course Temple of the Dog would probably close the night out) are gonna headline... matt cameron would be one exhausted panda if it's true2/19/2010 4:59:20 PM |

soundgarden and pearl jam both played lollapalooza 92 and it did not guarantee Temple of the Dog stuff. They didn't do any in Raleigh that year for sure. 2/19/2010 5:03:42 PM |

it's just one show now tho, right?
there's no way they wouldn't pop a couple of songs off... hunger strike would surely show up... wouldn't surprise me if they did "pushin forward back" and "say hello 2 heaven"
i've been to a couple of shows now where pj plays "crown of thorns" to boot 2/19/2010 5:09:22 PM |

I liked some of Audioslave's early stuff, but Cornell's solo shit was terrible. Hopefully this will be good. Cornell's vocals aren't as good as they used to be, but they aren't bad at all right now. 2/19/2010 9:08:49 PM |

Is Cornell planning on more solo stuff after this reunion show? His solo stuff has never been very good, but I just listened to the shit he did for that Scream album with Timberland. WTF Cornell? 2/21/2010 4:00:32 AM |
