Anyone work for a department, and what are some of the advantages and disadvantages with working there? A job came open at a Parks and Rec Department near where I live, and I have been thinking about a career change.

well, you hang around for 30 years and you get state pension...and the rest of state benefits obviously
the downside is parks and rec departments, for the most part, have to fight for their budgets.......and many times are one of the first departments to have their budgets reduced during slow economic times 1/10/2010 1:58:18 AM |

I'm a teacher now, so I think that this move will be a job that produces less stress. 1/10/2010 5:33:02 AM |

I worked there. They waste money, get nothing done, and your boss will probably make a lot more than you and never been around. 1/10/2010 11:59:30 AM |

you're going to get paid almost nothing, and the job will still be stressful. What you gain in not having to deal with kids, you lose by not having any money to work with. 1/10/2010 11:35:56 PM |
