If that isn't what you want try going to a stove and fireplace store.

that gavanized stuff is not made for woodstoves. its made for like dryer vents and such. duct work. its a much thinner metal to boot.

What I need is a heavier metal made for wood stoves like what im replacing. preferably stove-black finish

who would carry such a thing?

^know of any stove and fireplace stores?

i've got a fireplace with no flue in it. i guess that's what its called, if i look up i can see all the way through to the sky. (there is a chimney cap, but you get the idea) if i want to put gas logs in there, what is the best way to keep the heat from going straight up the chimney?

First, get a flue.

To keep the heat inside, there's an accessory that you can get with gas logs, it's a electric blower with this wide, thin metal duct that goes right over the flames and blows hot air into the room. Works pretty well.

yeah, otherwise all the heat you're paying for is going out the chimbly

p.s: here is the ugliest webpage i've seen in ten years
