I kinda get the feeling that the only reason the Simpsons is still on the air is so they can beat the next broadcasting record or hit the next multiple of 5 year count.

I'm going back and watching older seasons, which one do you think is the best?

Season 4 is the obvious choice to me but I'm always curious to hear what other people think is the best. 2nd for me has to be Season 5 mostly because Cape Feare is my favorite episode

Season 8

- Great Halloween ep with Bill Clinton and Bob Dole
- Hank Scorpio ep
- Hurricane destroys Ned's house, Ned goes crazy
- X-Files ep with Leonard Nimoy
- Kelsey Grammer and David Hyde Pierce ep, a/k/a Sideshow Bob vs. brother Cecil
- Homer's phobia with John the gay dude
- Mr. Sparkle
- Frank Grimes

But really every season up until the recent ones all had their charms

Dammit. I was there when they were taking apart Back to the Future to make room for it.

I've got a bunch of the old seasons on DVD and watching them I realize just how good they really were and how the show has become a caricature of what it once was.
