hypothetically speaking, couldn't a laptop be wired with certain chips and broken circuits/shorts to overheat and ultimately cause a small explosion?
no explosives would be needed, just "faulty" electrical equipment so it would be undetectable before and maybe even after the epxlosion 2/3/2010 6:52:18 PM |

You wouldn't need the whole laptop, just the battery. 2/3/2010 6:55:43 PM |

im obviously not planning an attack. im just pointing out the fact that laptops being allowed on planes or pretty much anywhere is a huge risk. 2/3/2010 7:31:48 PM |

A laptop battery contains roughly the stored energy of a hand grenade, and if shorted it ... hey! You can't arrest me if I prove your rules inconsistent!
