I think I vastly underutilize what the World Wide Web has to offer. My go-to pages are GMail, Facebook, and T-Dub. Running in the background, I have either YouTube or Pandora or Playlist. On game days, I open up several sports and sports analytics tabs. When I'm bored, I'll go to Google Scholar and read a random paper, usually on statistics or sociology. Finally, around 80% of my time is spent on porn.

Is there anything I'm missing?

nothing wrong with cutting down on the toys you own

not owning a huge tv with a sports package != being a cheap ass

Never said you need a 73 incher and Sunday Ticket

Just don't cancel ESPN and still expect to hold the same social weight by watching the playoffs on your Lenovo

Nothing wrong with having a nice TV and a sports package but as far as "social weight" goes this is serious caveman currency

rethink your life because if either (1) you run out of money or (2) your brain even slightly develops, you're going to end up extremely unhappy come 40

pretty sure most the games come over the air in crisp HD for free, so unless someone completely didn't have a TV period it shouldnt be a problem.

I'm pretty sure "cancel your tv" was more meant to be taken as "cancel your cable/whatever subscription" and not throw out/don't buy the physical object.

i either go to a bar to watch sporting events or to my buddy's place who has a nice tv

it doesn't exactly establish a social hierarchy though, because owning a nice tv just means being able to amass resources and being willing to spend them in that way

Its more of a priorities type of thing

You could say 1000 is a lot to spend on a television

But I could probably look at your life and find 1000 where I would deem it excessive in other areas

I just personally value a nice television more than you do

If its a big game, ie Panthers playoff games, NCSU tourney games (lol) I have to watch at home

Bars, friends' houses, etc are cool if you don't really care about the game

But if I really care about the game, I have to be in the zone chief

Hell I've probably paid for my TV just based on how much less I spend on beer to drink at home compared to paying bar prices

haha this is an interesting cost/benefit analysis. Should do some arithmetic and show how many nights pay for a TV

I still got out drinking a lot, just not to specifically watch a game

So I'm not really saving any money

But there is something ironic about having a 60" laying idle at home while you crane your neck to watch a 32" inch with no sound from 20 feet away at the bar

lets see (rough numbers here)

$15 18-pack can last 2 days

2 days at the bar...bar tab probably like $60

$22.50 per day savings towards television

$1100 TV / $22.50 = 48.88888 days

If you are an alcoholic, you can get a "free TV" in less than 2 months!

dang, im the exact opposite, i want to go out for big games with a big rowdy cropwd and yell at scream at the tv

then again, going out in raleigh for a game is way different than going out down here, as i found out yesterday being the only state fan at a bar with no sound for the game
