Been there, done that. lol, nah seriously, I highly recommend Lucerne, Switzerland. One of my favorite places in Switzerland and on the planet.

i am utterly stoked...i was disappointed not to be able to go to switzerland when i was in europe last...i've heard that lucerne is amazing (obviously, from the pics)...assuming the LHC doesn't destroy it, i think we'll be there

she and i both pledged separately during their february fund drive...i pledged during the costa rica trip and she did it during the switzerland one...eric hodge said he had been trying to get in touch with her since earlier this week, but he never left any messages

not sure on the details...we can choose any week within the next year...they're sending us (her) paperwork for tax purposes (i suppose we'll have to pay, since the value is above $600 or whatever)

I'm going to refrain from making any specific references to her anatomy...

though I find it hilarious that "birthing hips" is going stick with her for decades.

I lived in Basel (or Bal is you hate English) for a while and I would not recommend it. But the above places, which I got the pleasure of going to, are totally awesome. Where are you staying for this week?

^ one night in geneva and then the other 5 in montreux, i believe...i'm not quite sure how it works, but we may see if we can extend the trip for another week so we can use the extra time to check out places like lucerne (about 2 hours away by car) or other places close by (montreux is very close to the french border)

we may rent a car, but we'll probably ride the rail

I think that you will like the flexibility of a car more so than the train, which can get kinda expensive on its own. You are also staying in a pretty sweet place.

Lake Lucerne is really nice, but where you are is still going to be a beautiful place. Kinda far from where you are gonna be. Bern is the closest semi-big city and there are quite a few nice places there.

One of the great things about swiss neutrality is that they weren't destroyed during WWII. Like the building I lived in was built in 1450....beat that. There are great old buildings everywhere.

Interlaken, which you can see above is another great place. I think actually you can take the train from Montreaux to interlaken to lucerne. To long for a day trip though. Is there any flexibility in where you can stay?

no clue...after the part that they recorded for playing on the radio, she spoke with another person that verified all of her information and the lady told her they would be mailing her the tax information and trip details

i would think you essentially get a voucher for two tickets to be used whenever...not sure how the accommodations are handled...i suppose we'll find out within the next couple of days
