anybody notice this? I download PDFcreator (dumps print output to PDF) and they try to install a toolbar. I have frostwire for gnutella stuff and it's supposedly opensource, but it has the "for-profit" feel and also tries to install a toolbar. And most toolbars are surreptitious adware.

So what? "Open source" means you can't make a buck?

Free as in speech, not free as in beer. Libre vs. gratis. Look it up.

open source doesn't mean they don't want to make money. it's always been that way. perhaps developers just have more options available for monetizing their work, though i too am not a fan of bundling toolbars and other crapware in order to do so

it just seems so different from the early sourceforge stuff I used to use.
