all new, never been used...they were all purchased online from REI last week, but i couldn't cancel shipping when i found a pack i liked better, so i picked them up tonight from the store and was too embarrassed to return them immediately...you're welcome to lowball as much as you want, but i won't sell them for less than the prices i list with each pack, considering that's what i paid and i can just return them to the store for a full refund

they're all on craigslist, and i fully expect that i'll sell them there or return them to the store, but i figured i'd give someone the chance to get a good deal on a pack

Kelty Beam 82: $170

so what kind of "good deal" does quagmire get from rei.com that another breathing human does not?

that's what i ended up doing, using my coupon and dividend to purchase a new pack (for more than i wanted to spend, but with the dividend i can pretend that it was cheaper

considering the consistently rave reviews, i'm sure i would have loved how comfortable it is...the new aether is front-loading, though, and i HATED internal frame packs for so long because they're only top-loading (who wants to dig through their pack to get to their gear, anyway?)...of course, there's an $80 premium on the new pack

read below, kid:

Quote :
"well, just guessing, but there were some mad sales that was going on that ended. perhaps now you can get these at the sale price from him since its over? idk..."

exactly...they were all closeouts, so it's not like you can buy them yourself anymore

Quote :

don't forget the $13 shipping, which brings it to $163...at least try to be accurate, okay

i'm not trying to scam anyone...they cost what they cost and since i CAN return them, it makes no difference to me what some dumbass noob like flatline thinks...the added advantage of buying from me is that you get to check them out before buying them online site unseen (you may end up loving or hating the style and fit, but you won't know until you try it on)

again, it's no skin off my teeth, i'm not out a dime

in other news, i also have the REI Mojave +15 down sleeping bag (new) for $130: http://www.rei.com/product/746219

Why do I suspect you are trying to turn some credit card money into some greenbacks?

Seriously...save everybody a lot of time and just return them.
And as far as your argument goes about being able to check them out with you...last time I checked, REI has something that we like to call....stores..
And they carry....you guessed it....things to sell. Why I hear you can walk in and see, touch and even try on all sorts of things.
The idea that we would pay you rather than simply go to the store is ridiculous.

*sigh*...you might have a point if these weren't closeout items, which give you exactly $0 in terms of REI dividend (10%) or credit card (5%)...i do suppose i will get my 1% cash back, though...MAD MONEY UP IN HERE, EH?

i'm not sure how i'm taking up "a lot of time" by posting them on tww...maybe you find yourself staring at this thread for hours and you're angry?

you're just too stupid to get it, aren't you? these are items that ARE NOT SOLD IN THE STORE...you also won't find similar packs (size and brand) for the same price since these are closeout items...you're right, you can go to the store and whatever you want, but you won't be doing it with these items at these prices

jeebus, you people are bored as balls, aren't you? i can't tell you how much money i've made on CL by buying cheap and selling high to people that don't know any better, but it's not the case, here...i guess flatline caught me trying to make a CRAZY $6 profit on the kelty, though...GOOD ONE, ACE VENTURA

anyway, the mars is gone (pending pickup)...i think i might go roll in all the money i made...maybe turn it into gold and pull a scrooge mcduck

I might not be the smartest person in this thread...but then I am not the one trying to sell closeout items at retail on TWW.
What could POSSIBLY be wrong with that plan?

i read in a bunch of forums that the 2008 version (like the pack for sale here) is much much less comfortable than the new ones. i decided to go w/ the new one when i bought mine.

again with the grade-A stupid...do you work at being so dense? maybe you don't understand what "retail" means...AT RETAIL, they were all much more expensive (kelty was $250, mars bag was $200, and the osprey was $260)...good try, though...keep trying, old man, maybe i'll throw you a bone

Quote :
"just return them. who cares what they think about you bringing the stuff back? just go get your cash. grow up."

well, damn, why didn't i think of that? thanks, babe, it never occurred to me to do this! oh, wait, no, i already said i would

it's not convenient for me to return them AT THIS MOMENT...i'm not going by there in the next few days, and so it requires more effort for me to go out of my way to return them than it does for me to put them up on teh intarwebs

Quote :
"i read in a bunch of forums that the 2008 version (like the pack for sale here) is much much less comfortable than the new ones. i decided to go w/ the new one when i bought mine."

mind pointing me toward some? i have tried them both, one right after another and back again, and they feel EXACTLY the same (again, this is just my experience, but i'll take that over the yet-provided direct-comparison reviews)...as i mentioned, i'm much MUCH happier with having front-loading and that is, by far, my biggest reason for spending the extra $80 on the new one, but i certainly wanted to make sure it was going to be worth the money before settling

btw, kiddies, the kelty and mars have both been picked up...i'll tell you what, i'm so glad you guys advised me to go out of my way and return them when i could get same cash monies from someone who's picking them up!

i gots the osprey and sleeping bag left

Yes, I work at it. Not everybody is a natural like you appear to be.

With all those post you have not yet learned what sort of response you would get on here for this type of thread.

oh yeah, once you have a front loading bag you will never understand how you dealt with the top loaders.

That High Sierra closeout I bought has the front-loading and it's pretty sweet, though I haven't been forced to use a top loader to see how miserable it really is.

I'll be honest, at first this thread smelled fishier than a motherfucker, but after talking to you, I realize you're just an idiot who buys too much crap then realized you don't need it

i just wanted to make sure that, when it was all said and done, i would have a pack that was comfortable...i've spent far too many hikes dealing with a sore back and aching shoulders to put up with inferior equipment again

but we'll see...you had better hope you don't need any of my "crap" this weekend
