She hearts Michael Lynche. Her mother really does have abnormally large eyes. Because of his chemistry with Cyrus, Michael Lynche was the only real noteworthy stand-out of the night. The pop songstress mentioned more than once that she was "in love" with the new dad (though it appeared to be more platonic than her affection for Bret Michaels) and seemed to relish the bear hug he gave her on their first meeting. Cyrus even mimed a little heart when Lynche finished singing "When a Man Loves a Woman." It was nice to see such a poised and confident songtress dissolve into a fan girl. In contrast, Paige Miles was given the coldest reception of the night. The bling-y purple heart given to her by an audience member turned out to be somewhat appropriate considering how unceremoniously the judges destroyed her flat rendition of Mariah Carey's version of "Against All Odds." According to Simon, the performance "killed her." The night was otherwise filled with forgettable dross. Lee Dewyze performed "The Letter" dressed as an extra from "Jersey Shore" – black suit, giant silver chain. Tim Urban was equally lackluster as he sang Queen's "Crazy Little Thing Called Love." It was all over when he started grabbing at the audience and sliding across the stage. In Kara's words, he was "Zac Efron in "Hairspray." Andrew Garcia threw another week down the drain and has started looking highly peeved at repeatedly striking out. The judges better watch out – his dad "knows" people. Katie Stevens fared better with Fergie's "Big Girls Don't Cry," but still gave off that air of pageant-y candy floss. Even a crystal clear Didi Benami couldn't impress with her rendition of Linda Ronstadt's "You're No Good." Simon quipped that the song's title was appropriate. Sixteen-year-old Aaron Kelly, who admitted he had a crush on Miley Cyrus, performed admirably despite having laryngitis. Even Cyrus seemed impressed by his vocals before Ryan Seacrest jokingly called him David Archuleta (the16-year-old runner up in season seven). Meanwhile, Casey James performed "The Power of Love" adeptly though Cowell said he sounded like an '80s cover band. No surprises with front runners Crystal Bowersox and Siobhan Magnus. Bowersox stood on a Persian rug and slayed "Me and Bobby McGee." Unfortunately, by the time screamer Siobhan Magnus took to the stage it was a safe bet that most viewers were comatosed with boredom. Though her final yell on Stevie Wonder's "Superstitious" woke the world up, Cowell suggested she move her trademark barbaric yawp to the front of the song – probably to wake him up next time.
