Surprisingly the BBC has America figured out better than the locals do...

Top Gear, Ramsay, Inbetweeners, Johnathan Ross, Graham Norton - all great shows and much better than anything comparable stateside.

They're all produced for British networks before BBCA imports them... so perhaps it just has something to do with British studios not assuming that their viewers are idiots who love shallow drama... thus attracting the American viewers who are not idiots obsessed with shallow drama.

Graham Norton sucks, not sure who Johnathan Ross is, and I generally don't care for cooking shows.

But I agree about Top Gear and Inbetweeners.

Actually 60% of the programming for BBCA was developed specifically for America.

On a side note it instantly made sense why all Top Gear stats are in miles, MPH, and 0-60 once I knew this

^Actually, UK road signs are in MPH anyway... Sometimes with a secondary sign on the same stick listing the KPH speed.

Those of you in these areas (theater locations in the picture) please go see this movie! The folks from the FB page just told me that if it's a success it'll move to more theaters and I want it to come to Philly, so go on netflix, watch a few episodes of The Inbetweeners and then go see this movie.

If you have the time watch all of the episodes (I think there are only about 18 total), the show is great and lots of the jokes in the movie will make more sense if you have seen the show.

The movie is surprisingly good, especially since most 30 minute comedies aren't particularly well suited for feature length.

Also the American version of the show is predictably bad.

I saw a preview for the American version -- it looks like they turned Jay into a fat kid and Neil into either a stoner or a skater. Also, the main guy who plays Will isn't nearly as goofy looking as he should be. One of the best things about the Inbetweeners is how vulgar and obscene it is. Half the stuff on the show wouldn't make it past the FCC (unless it were on HBO) and cutting it out completely messes everything up. I can't think of any other shows where it literally shows a teenager's testicle sticking out of his underwear.

saw the movie in Portland

not as funny as the tv episodes, but funnier than almost any other comedy you'll see in the theaters

there were only 6 total people in the theater, including an old guy with a walker who showed up a half hour into the movie, so i doubt it'll get picked up for a wider release

^^ It is an okay show until he finally hooks up with sophie... Overall his melodramaticness kind of kills it for me. How many times am i supposed to laugh at him not being able to talk to women? The black boss dude is annoying and not funny. Mediocre show.
