well, no...it will be in the main living area and kitchen. We have heavy footed dogs and then in the kitchen there could be moisture problems. This takes care of both. I would really love to have cement flooring but that would look awkward and hard for resale in a suburban home.

there's a restaurant in emerald isle that has stained & textured concrete that looks just like hardwood floors. it's really awesome...and expensive i'm sure. kathryn's bistro, if you wanna check it out.

how long are the tiles?

^^^I know you think cement looks cool, but (besides possible moisture problems) cement flooring has the potential to just kill your joints over time. You'd be surprised how much wear you are saving your body by walking and standing on a floor that has some form of a pad and then another surface on top of your floor (I think you have a slab foundation if i recall). Even moreso if its a crawlspace with the subfloor, a pad and then some sort of flooring because of the extra give. Also, kudos to thinking ahead for resale too!

Those tiles look cool. I am planning to install solid hardwoods in the first floor of our house sometime this year. I havent decided whether I am putting them in the kitchen or not. If I don't I'll go with some sort of tile. I think in most cases, moisture in the kitchen isnt too much of a problem, but I can understand with the dogs...I want a dog, but I know we are putting hardwoods down at some point and just cringe at the thought of a dog tearing up the floors heh.

damn...6x18 would take FORRRRREVVVVVER in a room of any significant size. Hell, just laying 12x12 slate in a 50 sqft. foyer was annoying.

Not too mention hoping all your grout lines look straight and nice.

Not a huge fan of the dark wood tiles - looks like a floor at a Wendy's

If you like the texture, something like this is pretty cool:



This would be better for resale as well, as more people would like this.

I saw this on HGTV and it did not look like Wendy's flooring. It actually looks like wood.
