I'm looking for a good Whey Protein supplement. My old bottle was the GNC brand Performance Wheybolic 60. GNC has stopped stocking these. I'd prefer to buy online if anyone knows of some good deals.

are there significant advantages to whey as opposed to milk and yogurt? i get these greek yogurts from costco that have 14g of protein in them, and milk has 8g per cup

they were running a deal for 25 lbs for 99$. You have to buy and add your own flavoring though.

Me and my roommate split a shipment back in Jan. and we are still using it.

^^ Doesn't it have to do with the fact it's in a powder form and is absorbed much faster?

depends, milk and yogurt can have more carbs and fat than a lot of protein powders.

protein powder is a "supplement" you want to get as much of your macronutrients as possible from foods. then whey protein for the rest.

a friend of mine is the founder of a company called leaner living and sells a formulated protien powder.

i use optimum nutrition whey

^ yeah Optimum Nutrition is good. I have it at home. Reviews all over the web are good for ON.

I also have used All the Whey - tastes good, but I do not think it was that effective.

I also have Syntha-6 products at my house. Reviews are good as well on S-6, but it can be pricey. I usually buy it on Amazon when they run a sale and then do the subscribe and save thing to get another 15% off.

the good thing about optimum nutrition whey protein is that there are a lot of flavors to choose from and it is very reasonably priced. just do not buy it (or anything for that matter) from GNC.

GNC always costs more than products online or even other local stores. if you want to go to a store and buy supplements as opposed to ordering online, i would highly recommend vitamin shoppe. (dont confuse vitamin shoppe with vitamin world)

i dont have a vitamin shoppe near me so i usually order online from bodybuilding.com i have never had an order that didnt ship out the same day i ordered it. (and there are always free samples of stuff in the package when i get my order.)

I always get this stuff:

http://www.musclegauge.com

I usually buy 2x5lbs tubs($70 shipped), random flavors(cup cake is my favorite), of their isolate. Very inexpensive, mixes just fine in water. Not the best tasting, but definitely the best macro profile I've found and one of the best prices. Really though don't try to live off whey, so don't buy it for taste unless you're really a pussy. This is to supplement your diet, not become a staple. Whole foods > MRPs. I limit my intake to 1-2 shakes before or after workouts. Whole foods at all other times as convenience permits.

i quit taking protein supplements months ago and have not noticed a difference in performance......i've convinced myself that it's unnecessary unless you are a power lifter

that being said, when i used to take it, I used ON for price/flavor/purity ratio

i personally believe there is a difference between getting those nutrients and not getting them

I also believe that you dont need supplements, but creating a diet of actual food and sticking to it, that leads to the same results

the most i take is a multivitamin

if you're going to do protein powder, why not a blended protein?

..unless you REALLY want to go all-out and use whey for post-workout, and blended for general use.

I've got a bunch of ON Fruit Punch if anyone is interested in buying some. It mixes pretty well with water, but now that I'm back in the Milk Drinker's club, I prefer Chocolate.

Another vote for TP

Discount code DNT276 gets you 5% off every order you ever place and 10% on bulk orders.

I like:

Dante and his company package most of what you buy retail at higher prices for marketing companies that position themselves as supplement companies.

I've used pretty much everything they sell on the site over the last two and half years. I was taking 40 caps a day for a while - it's all good stuff.

I use ON whey protein for post-workout, and my pre-workout or filler meals consist of canned tuna or beef jerky.

That's only true for a very small fraction of the market. Most legitimate supplement companies won't do business with a man who goes by "DoggCrapp" more often than Dante and is better known for his hardcore bodybuilding publications than he is for selling protein.

[Edited on April 21, 2010 at 9:56 PM. Reason : TrueProtein.com is a good product, but they're not as dirt cheap as they were 6 years ago.]

All the Whey is hands down the best.

Take whey immediately after workouts and then casein before sleep or on cooldown days.
