I'm trying to help my gf's mom set up a website for her small business. Would she need to have a website that requires SSL certification as appears to be one of the options on GoDaddy? She just needs something simple, something that displays her work and has an option for purchases. Anyone have any recommendations on what hosting service to use? 4/25/2010 2:01:26 PM |

For whatever reason that site isnt wanting to pull up from my phone but im assuming that a webpage there would be xxxx.ewebs.com, shes content with paying for a site so she can get a domain name but im just wondering what she needs to be able to have a purchasing system on her site. 4/25/2010 2:32:42 PM |

She won't need an SSL cert. She won't be using SSL at all. 4/25/2010 2:53:57 PM |

if by "purchasing" you mean that people will be buying something from her website (ie entering in personal/payment info) then yes she should get SSL.
Otherwise no she doesn't need it. 4/25/2010 9:51:10 PM |
