WTF!!??!?! Do people not care about plots? Avatar was fucking horrible and I hate the American consumer. No wonder we fail at life.

Don't be blaming American consumers

This move did better outside of America than any movie ever.

you also must take into account the number of blu-ray players available at dark knight's launch

pretty sure this takes into account Dark Knight DVD sales, as Avatar offers both.

Who buys blu-ray movies at grocery or drug stores?

dark knight cannot be a family movie therefore the audience is limited
whereas avatar can be enjoyed by all brands of humans and human social groups

you can argue Dark Knight as a bad movie, but you can't argue Avatar as a good one.

The Kroger on Raleigh Boulevard has exactly two movies on Blu-Ray: The Princess and the Frog and Precious.

Quote :
"(CNN) -- James Cameron's completely immersive spectacle "Avatar" may have been a little too real for some fans who say they have experienced depression and suicidal thoughts after seeing the film because they long to enjoy the beauty of the alien world Pandora.

On the fan forum site "Avatar Forums," a topic thread entitled "Ways to cope with the depression of the dream of Pandora being intangible," has received more than 1,000 posts from people experiencing depression and fans trying to help them cope. The topic became so popular last month that forum administrator Philippe Baghdassarian had to create a second thread so people could continue to post their confused feelings about the movie.

"I wasn't depressed myself. In fact the movie made me happy ," Baghdassarian said. "But I can understand why it made people depressed. The movie was so beautiful and it showed something we don't have here on Earth. I think people saw we could be living in a completely different world and that caused them to be depressed."

A post by a user called Elequin expresses an almost obsessive relationship with the film.

"That's all I have been doing as of late, searching the Internet for more info about 'Avatar.' I guess that helps. It's so hard I can't force myself to think that it's just a movie, and to get over it, that living like the Na'vi will never happen. I think I need a rebound movie," Elequin posted.

A user named Mike wrote on the fan Web site "Naviblue" that he contemplated suicide after seeing the movie.

"Ever since I went to see 'Avatar' I have been depressed. Watching the wonderful world of Pandora and all the Na'vi made me want to be one of them. I can't stop thinking about all the things that happened in the film and all of the tears and shivers I got from it," Mike posted. "I even contemplate suicide thinking that if I do it I will be rebirthed in a world similar to Pandora and the everything is the same as in 'Avatar.' ""

I wouldn't say it was BAD, but it was pretty forgettable. It was kind of fun and exciting, but I have no desire to see it again. I have no idea what the fuss over Ledger's Joker was. He was fine, but nothing exceptional.

Dark Knight was relatively good because the previous few Batman movies had sucked

Avatar was just glorified special effects with a shitty plot

Perfect for BlueRay

^^It was an RnD project. Its existence is hinted at earlier in the movie. He didn't just pull it out of his ass.

So the whole masked superhero with unlimited wealth and resources, kicking ass and taking names, skyhooking into skyscrapers in distant lands, and supervillian clowns were okay for you to suspend your disbelief, but god forbid there be an exaggerated technological resource at someone's disposal. DISBELIEF UNSUSPENDED.

If y'all must know, drug stores and grocery stores were and still are running promotions like, "Spend twenty dollars on these select items and get Avatar on blu-ray for five dollars..."

So if you need any of those items, and you had coupons for those items, and you wanted a Blu-Ray of Avatar, it would make sense for you to purchase it in a drug store or grocery store...

They're called "impulse buys" at least if you make the purchases

You might have had zero intention of buying a DVD or BlueRay when you went to the store

But you're waiting in line and you're like "hey look its Avatar"
