im slightly disappointed that i will miss their show at the Black Cat here in DC on what will, ostensibly be their last tour "together"...i say that in quotes because i feel like i already saw their last show way back before Minstrel Show when 9th was still touring with them.

Wow I had no idea they were breaking up for good. I haven't heard much about them lately though. That was a great article though, lots of good insight into what was going on. Until reading that, I didn't realize the break with 9th was as big as it was.

I'm just saying...his soul thing gets a little old. A lot of his beats sound very similar. To me, there are guys who do what 9th does but a lot better. Just sayin'.

And BTW, I thought Chemistry was awful...Murs 3:16 is pretty good, though

Buckshot is a shitty MC. And like I said, 9th's soul loops get repetitive, especially on Chemistry.

my favorite part of LB is / was always phonte

dude is such a sick lyricist. i can get down on some foreign exchange but i will always hold out hope for a multiple-producer phonte solo album of just straight rapping.


on the 9th topic...jay-z - threat - off the black album is HOT. probably one of my favorite jay-z tracks since pretty much anything off reasonable doubt.

seems like Phonte will have a more successful solo career than Pooh...the Grammy nomination for Foreign Exchange says a lot about his ability

plus he's a better MC anyway

Big Pooh's best song IMO is "Strongest Man" off his album Sleepers

hold up. i know this is an LB thread, but did some m'f*cker really say that buckshot is a "terrible MC"??? that's freaking ridiculous. i guess he should rhyme about candy canes, birdies, and lollipops. or about his rims, his broads, and all his money and success. yeah, that would be better. NAW SON!!!

anyhow, sad to see LB break up, but hell, who are we kidding - i'd take a solo phonte album over a phonte/pooh album anyday.

yeah, they did a great job keeping that old vibe going. i wouldn't have been mad it if had some super different feel either, it has been 10 years, but I was pleasantly surprised how familiar it feels

still listen to these guys all the time. they're throwing a block party in durham in october to celebrate the 20th anniversary of The Listening. i'm obviously not cool enough to attend, but I will enjoy seeing them get their shine on social media
