Indian doctors are studying an 83-year-old holy man who claims to have spent the last seven decades without food and water.
Military doctors hope the experiments on Prahlad Jani can help soldiers develop their survival strategies.
The long-haired and bearded yogi is under 24-hour observation by a team of 30 specialists during three weeks of tests at a hospital in the western Indian city of Ahmedabad.
Two cameras have been set up in his room, while a mobile camera films him when he goes outside, guaranteeing round-the-clock observation.
His body will be scanned and his brain and heart activity measured with electrodes.
"The observation from this study may throw light on human survival without food and water," said Dr. G. Ilavazahagan, who is directing the research. "This may help in working out strategies for survival during natural calamities, extreme stressful conditions and extra-terrestrial explorations like future missions to the Moon and Mars by the human race."
Since the experiment began on April 22, Jani has had no food or water and has not been to the toilet.
"The exercise of taking this yogi under the medical scanner is to understand what energy supports his existence," Ilavazahagan added. "Jani says he meditates to get energy. Our soldiers will not be able to meditate, but we would still like to find out more about the man and his body."
Jani, who dresses in red and wears a nose ring, grew up in Charod village in the Mehsana district in Gujarat.
He claims to have been blessed by a goddess when he was 8-years-old, which has enabled him to survive without sustenance." |

I did read it, but I personally dont believe that monitoring him with fixed cameras is going to actually do enough to prevent him from sneaking nutrition some how.
Especially with as many doctors and visitors coming in as they say.

Quote : | "Prahlad Jani
Prahlad Jani, a Jain holy man[29], spent ten days under strict observation by physicians in Ahmedabad, India, in 2003. The study was led by Dr Sudhir Shah, the same doctor who led the study of Hira Ratan Manek. Reportedly, during the observation, he was given only 100 millilitres of water a day to use as mouthwash, which was collected and measured after he used it, to make sure he hadn't consumed any. Throughout the observation, he passed no urine or stool, but doctors say urine appeared to form in the bladder, only to be reabsorbed.[30] However, despite Jani's claim to have gone without food for decades, Jani was not engaged in strenuous exercise during the ten-day trial, and longer trials were not recorded under similarly strict observation. Further, his weight did drop slightly during the 10 days, casting some doubt on his claim to go indefinitely without food. Jani claims a goddess sustains him through amrit that filters down through a hole in his palate.[30] The Indian Rationalist Association labels him a "village fraud".[31]
On June 26, 2006, The Discovery Channel aired a documentary called "The Boy with Divine Powers" featuring a 5 minute interview with Prahlad Jani and Dr. Sudhir Shah.
As of April 22nd 2010, new tests are being conducted on Prahlad Jani under surveillance of 35 doctors and researchers of Defence Institute of Physiology & Allied Science (DIPAS)." |

He did this back in 2003 also. He was observed for 10 days and he made it, but lost weight - which pretty much dismisses everything.

^ The laws of thermodynamics do NOT require faith of any kind. Don't use that term when it relates to physical law you fucking miracle believing cocksucker.

^ Btw, I don't see how the fuck your retarded ass can't believe this is possible with your intervening skydaddy while at the same time asserting that there's no other way that you could have coincidentally opened your big book of multiple choice to a page that you then related with. You play fill in the blank and it's a fucking miracle, yet you refuse to accept this claim of a miracle because there is no justifiable reason to think it is one. How the fuck can't you turn this logic around on yourself? OH, THAT'S RIGHT, YOU'RE RELIGIOUS. You have to make special pleading fallacies and hold ridiculous/contradictory ideas in order to make your religious belief system somehow seem justifiable in this reality.
You are the most ass backwards, contradictory individual I've seen on this forum. It doesn't surprise me though, since you're a religious moron. ]4/30/2010 6:46:24 PM |

yes they do, dipshit. every intelligent skeptic knows that there is no logical reason why the future should behave like the past. the laws of physics have held in every observed circumstance, but when you adopt the belief that they will always hold, you're taking a leap of faith.
really, man, when you argue about this shit, you come off as a second-rate intellectual who'd like to be first-rate: which might explain your extreme defensiveness and hostility.
also, you seem to have missed the part where I quote
Quote : | "He was observed for 10 days and he made it, but lost weight - which pretty much dismisses everything." |
which implies there is no miracle happening, and the laws of thermodynamics are, in fact, being applied in this case. I didn't dismiss this shit out of hand.
be sure to insult me, bring up my religion as if it it rules out the possibility of my being intelligent, and post irrelevant pics of castrated male crotches, or yourself holding pink knives, in your reply.
