YOU KNEW THIS WAS COMING.

so you already probably know i'm running a 1/2 marathon in memory of my mom to raise money for the leukemia and lymphoma society. here is where i ask you (beg?) to donate - just $1 (TAX DEDUCTIBLE DONATIONS) to the cause!! and if you can't donate then please be my cheerleaders as i train - i'm super out of shape and hate running and will probably get frustrated a lot. but it is an important cause and important for me personally as closure to this past year of my life.

if you wanna read more about my life drama (mom died of leukemia, dad had 2 strokes at the same time, i dropped out of law school, etc) OR donate go here: http://pages.teamintraining.org/nc/rnrh10/kcadwallad

anyway this is where i'm going to keep all this info - and complain about training and look for encouragement (yea - encouragement from tww haha. but some of you are nice and have words of wisdom). plus i hope this summer there will be some fundraisers at local businesses so i'll keep you ABREAST (did i get your attention?! i was gonna post a boob pic here but i want this to be work safe) of those here.

ALSOOOOOOOO if you could spread that link around your work/friends/family that'd be great. even if people don't donate i think that its good for people to hear what the LLS does for families. if you do donate make sure you check and see if your company will match employee donations!!!

AND I DID BUY AN AD SO FUCK YOU IF THATS WHAT YOU CAME HERE TO SAY. but that isn't only what this thread is about - i need accountability for diet/exercise. and no one is as good at making people feel bad about themselves as tww

and now i am going to make you feel sad and guilty buy posting pictures of me with my mom:

this is me sleeping on my mom at litchfield (south myrtle beach):

this is my graduation from ncsu - my parents and i:

this is in key west when we went on a cruise in ummmm '05 maybe?

that is all for now but never fear i'll be back. and sometime i'll be back with more pics. wait until i break out the middle school era pics - there will be some good laughs in there. braces, unibrow, lanky as shit. good times.

TL;DR ---> click this: http://pages.teamintraining.org/nc/rnrh10/kcadwallad

if you donated like a big amount - i haven't decided WHAT yet. i might have 2 levels but for people that donate a lot (like either over $50 or over $100) i want to give them a little something - would you rather get (and i know these aren't that cool but bear with me i'm not made of money here all of this stuff is game though):

a) a cooler that fits a 6 pack like so:

b) a totebag like so:

c) a mug like:

d) a water bottle like so:

e) clippy magnet:

f) a coffee mug like either of these:

g) a red tote bag:

h) a pen:

well they were out of that red totebag i wanted, sad. and the coffee mugs have a 12 min order on the gifts i guess i'm just gonna wait and see if anyone actually donates over $100. then if they do i'll take it from there. otherwise i'm juts going to wait to order stuff until i have a fundraiser (hopefully at a bar) and then i'll just order some cheap stuff like packages of golf tees, balls, and pens and stickers to give away for free regardless of donation amount.

^ OHHHH awesome thanks. ohhh good idea - roller blade as cross training! ahahha. i'm going to look nerdy. i like the rookie mistakes section too. luckily i started out in college as a sports med major so i know kind of a lot about athletic training and stretches and injury prevention. which i think is a plus. but i could definitely use work on motivation and staying positive. this website looks like it will help

i'm going to be blogging about my training experience and other things but i'm kinda scared to post the link here for fear of the comments that might be left on my blog. but i guess i can always delete them so here we go:
http://funkandsole.blogspot.com/

also thanks to the awesome paerabol there is a bada bar fundraiser in the future (with a raffle and hopefully cool prizes...well at least semi cool. and NOOOOO the prizes won't be leukemia and lymphoma society gear, they're going to be things people ACTUALLY want). and there MIGHT be another fundraiser at another bar loved by tww also. but that hasn't 100% been discussed yet. the bada one is still in the works but it is like 90% happening. i just have to work out the details (aka acquire raffle ish)

whenever i have the prizes for the raffle i'll post them to entice you people to come out i hope it isn't bad form to fundraise at a bar. probably shoulda had a fundraiser at like whole foods or fleet feet but oh well that isn't really my style

thanks to everyone who has donated so far and to everyone who has given me words of encouragement

meh. i haven't really done anything about it since i put it on the internet

i'd expect more if i had harassed people. but its kinda just been sitting there. i need to send out emails and letters so that people other than FB and TWW people know i'm doing it, haha.

oh shit that reminds me i'm supposed to write up something for my school.

thanks - i will. today i did pretty good w/ no sleep and quasi hungover/still drunk - 4 miles. which seemed decent considering my training schedule had me at 1 - 2 miles easy (it is literally designed for people who have never worked out a day in their life i think)

maybe i'm starting to get in shape? my lower legs are showing some more noticeable muscle definition. i never hand cankles or anything so i always had definition but now it looks a lot more noticeable. to me anyway.

ummm i didn't time myself. and i'm not sure if it was exactly 4 miles. i know it was at least 4 miles so it could have been more but probably around 4 not more than 4.5

and probably around 50ish minutes so averaging like 12-14 minutes a mile, which is SUPERRRRRRR slow. except that i totally suck at pacing so i run my first one in like 8 minutes and then just get progressively slower

except when i have to run under this creepy underpass. i spring like hell through that thing.

Creepy post ahead:

The Wendover underpass in Latham Park? I ride my bike through there on the way to work. There are always dudes standing there by the creek -- I figure it's drug or rape related.

^ yea she saw me graduate from undergrad. not law school which i guess is still something. but thanks for the support

You should have one of those websites where there's a photo of you that's made up of like 1000 boxes and for each dollar donated you remove a box.

yo yo people

i haven't bumped this in awhile.

i just wanted to share one of the reasons i'm running this race AND to let you know that i have a fundraiser scheduled for bada wings tentatively around mid to late july (looking @ the 19th but haven't gotten 100% confirmation from dave yet who is awesome for helping me do this). it will be a monday. so you guys can come for dinner and there will also be a RAFFLE. yayyy raffle. anyway. more details about that will come later.

this is one of the programs my mom benefitted from. i mean it seems like such a simple idea but it makes a HUGE difference in the lives of people battling this disease. while research is a MAJOR focus of the LLS, it is programs like this that really help patients and families that motivated me to run to raise money for this organization.

First Connection (Peer-to-Peer) Program

We know what you are going through. Talk to us.

Recognizing the needs of families in the initial phases of diagnosis, the First Connection program brings patients and their caregivers the opportunity to share experiences with someone who has "been through it," and obtain valuable information on The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) and community resources available to support them. This unique match gives the new patient or caregiver valuable insight from someone who also has experienced a blood cancer. Patient and volunteers are matched by age, diagnosis and gender when possible.

Peers are trained in basic counseling skills and are armed with local resource materials so that patients and their caregivers need not feel isolated as they begin the process of treatment. Anyone with leukemia or related cancers is eligible to receive a call or visit. There is no charge for this program. "

trying to get to $750 by the weekend. i actually have $700 right now so if 10 people donated $5 that would get me to the 25% i need to keep fundraising. thank you SO much to everyone who has already donated. as someone who has personally benefitted from the work that the LLS does, i can tell you that your money IS going to help cancer patients and families as well as to fund research for better treatments and hopefully one day a cure. donations are tax deductible.

-------> my story & on-line donation page http://pages.teamintraining.org/nc/rnrh10/kcadwallad

also, i will be having a fundraiser at bada wings on july 21st. here is the FB event: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=134054746612542. join it. it will eventually be updated with more info (like times and shit.). there is going to be a raffle. i don't have all the prizes yet but there will be for certain:

2 tickets to the no age/love language/public enemy show on saturday sept 11 in city plaza (part of the hopscotch music festival)

$50 schoolkids gift card

a vera bradley bag/clutch set

a 42nd street gift card for an amount that has yet to be determined

and some other stuff (if you have or work somewhere that can donate raffle prizes, PM me. they are tax deductible. as are all donations made).

dave, who is awesome (we already knew this, but he is even more awesome now. as is everyone at bada), will potentially be facilitating some specials that evening as well. i'll bump this again when the FB page gets updated

^^ well i asked joel too - dave just happened to respond first. HOWEVER if joel is still willing i wouldn't mind doing some sort of similar thing there in august. sans the raffle. the raffle is one time only because it is a lot of work haha. or maybe i'd just have one prize instead of several.
