I have been looking at as little as possible about this film and wish the trailers had stayed cryptic.
I am not 'prepared to be disappointed,' I am excited and my expectations are high.
This is the last time I'm going to look at this thread before I see it. 7/14/2010 9:49:37 PM |

imax tickets bought for saturday - can't fucking wait
how early do you normally have to get to the imax to get decent seats? 7/16/2010 8:28:10 AM |
dillydaliant All American 1991 Posts user info edit post |
^They say an hour early at the box office, but if you only get there a half hour early, it's definitely not the end of the world.
pretty much all the seats are good, you just don't want to get stuck in the very front. I'd say 45 minutes and you'll be golden.

the fact that it's a dream is a pretty big part of the premise, and you're told that it's a dream

^ bullshit, that top was about to stop spinning. all they did by cutting it off was leaving a little shred of doubt, a REMOTE possibility that he could still be dreaming. i'm pretty sure he was no longer dreaming...otherwise, he wouldn't have been able to see his kid's faces. 7/16/2010 5:28:23 PM |

^ That's kind of my take on it also. It was wobbling, I just think they wanted to make you think about it after you'd left the theatre.

f that. He spun it and it wobbled like mad then like 10 seconds passed of him seeing their faces and it was going strong. I think the whole idea is that he went deep inside of his mind and planted the idea that he could be free when in reality he couldn't

*****SPOILER*************
I think the whole thing was a dream and his wife was right the whole time (assuming she "died" in the movie's main "reality".) Furthermore, when he saw his kids faces, they were wearing the same clothes they were wearing when he left.

Holy shit. Just got back. Incredible. Absolutely amazing. One of the best movies I've seen in the past 10 years. Most original storyline since The Matrix.
SPOILERS AHEAD!!
Three questions:
1) How did they link their dreams up? All it really said was something about shared dreams and not much more. I guess it was just supposed to be left to our imagination?
2) When he was in Africa talking to the forger guy in the bar and he was being "tailed", who were the guys that were chasing him/trying to shoot him?
3) In the third dream layer at the ice fortress thing... Fisher had been shot and went unconscious. How did the mere act of finding him in the dream (crumbling beach city dream) and waking him up there "revive" him in the snow dream? He had still been shot and I would assume still be incapacitated. Was it just that when he woke up from the city beach dream that he knew he was still dreaming and therefore hadn't really been shot?

1) Never really explained.
2) He was being tailed by the corporation that had hired him to extract info from Seito's mind.
3) If they revived him in the fortress world it would have been a 'kick' and sent him up into the hotel world. They had to send him down another level so that the revive was just a 'kick' out of the new world (the crumbling cities) but left him in the fortress world to be able to complete the vault scene.
My question is how did he find Seito in that level when he died up in the van level and was stuck in limbo there.
Also it was obvious the top was going to fall because we'd seen it happen multiple times in that world.
