this was true a couple years ago:

you can get it lowered to 14 over which is 2points in SC but nothing in NC so your insurance doesn't go up in NC

yeah, my experience is that it depends on the severity of the violation...and yeah, I think 14-over and less never gets reported to NC. It's been a while, though.
