Is that Wait Wait Don't Tell me?

I like that show. There are a few shows that I do like on NPR. That show, Car Talk, and A Prairie Home Companion (but I think all Lutherans are supposed to like that one).

ehe. My Midwestern Catholic fiancée just doesn't 'get' A Prairie Home Companion.

All I want for Christmas is Carl Kasell's voice on my home answering machine... XD
Anyone seen Peter Sagal in person, or what he looks like? He's... not nearly what I was expecting...

I dig a good bit of NPR programming, but Wait Wait...Stop Boring Me! doesn't do the trick.

I haven't seen any of her recent material, but, at the very least, Paula Poundstone used to be a pretty awesome comic. I always loved her bits about her cats and Pop-Tarts.

I was never into her standup, but she is a genuinely witty person. Very quick.

not much is known in terms of details. she was definitely driving drunk with her children. she was charged with drunk driving and child endangerment or whatever. she also received (several) charges for lewd acts with a girl under 14. through plea bargain, the lewd act charges were dropped. she ended up with probation and court mandated AA. she also lost a couple foster care kids through the ordeal.

eyah i was curious as to what the outcome of that was

it was like, you heard of the charges, then never heard anything about it again,

she disappeared for a while, then has had a career revival.

idk

Me too

Also, Wait Wait is always great when Paula Poundstone is on. And Roy Blount Jr. makes me laugh, if only because his ramblings remind me of my grandpa

" she was also made the voice of Home Movies mom character Paula Small for the show's first five episodes, which aired on UPN. Between the show's 1999 UPN cancellation and 2000 revival on Cartoon Network she chose to leave the show, being replaced by Janine Ditullio. The character's name and some of her appearance were modeled after Poundstone.[citation needed]"

I thought that show kind of sucked anyway.

Later seasons were better when they started focusing more on McGuirk.
