How often do people call the customer hotlines on food packaging? What sort of stuff do they call about? 6/6/2010 11:58:16 PM |

haha probably people like my grandmother who has started marking the days on her wall calendar with a check mark. . . . I'm not sure how to feel about this, should I be happy or concerned that it's not an "X" instead? I am conflicted. 6/7/2010 12:03:33 AM |

Someone I know did this recently about gum:
Quote : | "After religiously chewing Orbit Mist gum for over a year, under the impression it was vegan, I just got off the phone w/ Wrigley and was informed that their Mist line contains pork gelatin, as do their Altoids. Yet another reason why I can't trust products unlabeled w/ an H, K, or U." |
To be fair, it's not so much the vegan part as much as it's the pork (as opposed to beef, for example) that's the problem, for religious reasons.6/7/2010 12:37:54 AM |

Honestly though, if you have dietary restrictions in regards to animals, why would you be eating something with gelatin listed as an ingredient to begin with? Seems like it's better to just play it safe and not eat it. 6/7/2010 12:48:50 AM |

Obviously, when they first checked the ingredients, gelatin wasn't listed:

Later comments seem to say that he checked it out, it was acceptable, chewed it, and at some point, noticed a new formulation/ingredients, and that's what prompted the call.6/7/2010 12:54:36 AM |

I'm not sure why it would be obvious the ingredients were checked. I have known plenty of morons in my day that just assume a product is made or not made with something without ever bothering to look at the ingredient list. 6/7/2010 1:12:15 AM |

IF you have food allergies, you have to call a lot. It's annoying. 6/7/2010 9:04:12 AM |

Caller: "Hi... My hot pockets aren't hot"
Support: "Ok, well... Have you taken the hot pockets out of the box"
Caller: "Of course I did, I'm not stupid"
Support "Ok, did you put the hot pocket in the metal sleeve?"
Caller: "The sleeve that comes with it, yeah"
Support: "Did you microwave the hot pocket for 2 minutes on high?"
Caller: "I have to cook this damn thing? Then what's the point in buying it? IF I WANTED TO COOK I'D HAVE MADE SOMETHING NUTRITIOUS"
Support: "It's not a lunchable, ma'am"
