I have an 8gb iPhone (black) that is sim-unlocked, meaning you can use it with tmobile or at&t. I'm currently using it on T-mobile as a prepaid phone, and T-mobile data is coming through for free because their system isn't set up to for the iPhone yet; how long that will last is anyone's guess, but I'm currently getting free data! Bring your SIM, plug it in and go.
Asking $200. Comes with screen protector, silicone case, and usb cord. Also posted on craigs.

With free data you could probably get a cheap as hell Skype subscription and use that for the phone over the internet. Unlimited calling to US numbers is like 7 dollars a month, then simply sign up for a phone number to display and for others to call you on and a call-forwarding plan and you're golden

^I was using a free VOIP service that was ad supported when you made a call. It worked alright; the call quality wasn't the best, but you could have a conversation. You have to have an active tmobile sim, which means you at least have to buy some prepaid minutes (cheapest way I can think) and they do eventually expire anyways, but I was greatly extending them by using google voice to send SMS messages and making calls from a free service.
Keep in mind that Tmobile doesnt have 3g-data; I don't know what kind of bandwidth they have on their data service, but it isn't as fast as 3g-data from AT&T, which means if you want to use VOIP service the call quality may not be as good. But it was good enough for me!
If you're interested in learning about the free data thing, just google "free data from tmobile on the iphone". Like I said, I don't know how long it'll be until they close up their loop hole, but I've been using it since november ! 6/15/2010 10:49:37 AM |
