blueberries were on sale this week

my local HT had both out-of-state and locally grown blueberries BOGO

there was a special stand setup in the produce dept of all locally-grown produce on sale (blueberries, yellow squash, cucumbers, baby white potatoes, baby redskin potatoes, sweet potatoes)

[Edited on June 15, 2010 at 10:23 AM. Reason : oh yeah, sweet potatoes too!!]

i've yet to have been solicited for money whilst shopping at Teeter

however, every night at the Lake Wheeler Food Lion, I hear the "my car broke down and i need to drive my pregnant wife to Fayetteville" story

many of the things I buy regularly cost more at Food Lion than at HT

that's one of the reasons I choose HT over FL....but the main reasons are that FL doesn't even carry some of the items I buy, and that all the FL stores in our area are filthy and the customer 'service' sucks.

HT ftw

i like being able to go to HT and say, "hi Mr. Butcher. would you please grind this pork roast for my pork burgers" or "hi Mr. Fish Monger. please cut me three 8oz sockeye fillets"

can't do that at Food Lion

true story. but even with beer specials HT is usually on point. especially during tailgate season. coors, bud, miller all on sale for approx. $12 a case. it really doesn't get much better.

and when it comes down to it i think i'm just a grocery store snob. HT provides a better experience than FL

FL for the prices
HT for the free cheese
WF for bulk and dank food (as much as I can afford)

No, I'm talking truly heinous beers.. like Southpaw and Keystone -- the dregs of the beer world. You can always get them for a nickel at Food Lion.

Saturday = hot chicks at Trader Joes

Sunday = hot chicks (and hot, slightly pregnant, soon-to-be Cary soccer moms)

kinda disappointing this week

the only good deals that i need are on blueberries, 12-packs, tuna medallions, milk and zucchini

well, chicken breasts are BOGO, so that's pretty good too. should be able to get the week's shopping done for under $30

Exactly. The whole Harris Teeter is overpriced thing is a myth. I find that it's really no more expensive than the other supermarkets in the area. You just have to be a smart shopper.

HT has a Kraft Cheese instant rebate -- buy any 3, get $3 instant rebate

on top of that, the Kraft Cracker Barrel variety is on VIC special, $1.61 off

I bought 3 packages of KCB sliced cheese, normally priced $3.99/pk
$11.97 ($3.99 x 3)
-$4.83 (3 x $1.61 VIC discount)
-$3.00 (Kraft instant rebate)
=$4.14

That's 65% off on 3 packages of sliced cheese!!
