I got called out by a co-worker today because I bike to work and drop my stuff off in the office and check my e-mail first thing in the morning before changing. This takes 10 - 15 min tops and almost no one is in yet. No one has complained but some woman who doesn't even work in my department made a side comment. Neither of my supervisors have mentioned it to me and have often held conversations with me about biking in and whatnot.

So am I the douche* or is the other guy?

*"the" douche in this particular case, I realize I'm a douchey asshole in general.

"that isn't very professional"

Granted, it was 10:30 but I had just ridden my bike in after having been drilled on at the dentist for over an hour after they messed up my paperwork for another hour.

deargodjesusno. I work *sigh* as a contractor on a government site. I loathe the job for a slew of reasons and don't expect to stay in it very long.

1) it wasn't about my odor. 2) I can't speedstick my whole body 3) experiments, albeit informal ones, have been done and nothing will suppress my body's urge to regulate its temperature.

I say as long as you're following the spirit of the rules (ie you're not doing this when customers could possibly see you/ during core business hours, that sort of thing) then I don't think it should matter.

But then you have the type of people that will walk around their community looking for HOA violations after they retire.

It'd probably be best just to change first thing and not have to worry about the bitchy people complaining and potentially making you look bad to the boss man.

This, however, is a bit much.

i care very little about what my co-workers consider to be professional. she is not your superior, so i would not stress over it.

The other co-worker is the douche. You need to tell him to mind his own business about how you ride a bike, and ask why it is unprofessional. I might think it is bad to change before work, especially if you get there on time and then take 10-15 additional minutes once the "work day" has begun. Do you get there early to change? You say no one else is there.

Just go about it in a professional tone, but get the point across.

I've had one of the older techs (local yokel) pop comments at me as i'm wearing workout clothes after biking to work. I at most get to my desk, check my e-mail, then go to the bathroom to change.

Lol, I get to work, take a shower, brush my teeth, pour myself some granola, have a cup of coffee, check my email, post on TWW. Then I start working.

She is the douche.

If I hadn't had a dental appointment, it wouldn't be an issue.
