For me it was panicking initially about something in particular and it would spiral out of control. I think it depends on the person though.

not stress induced.

one time my heart raced for about thirty seconds, it was hard to breathe, and I felt slightly nauseous

this was right after I was a big dummy and said something unintentionally cruel to a coworker in the elevator

was that a mini panic attack?

are anxiety and panic the same thing?

I will have a moment of being light headed when I want to say something mean to someone...I don't think it's a panic attack though.

I think I have only had one in my life and it was for no reason at all, I was just standing there and I was fine and then all of a sudden I thought I was going to faint and I felt jumpy and I needed to get away from everyone and chill out.

the human brain is pretty fucking weird

normalcy is mostly a bogus narrative people project over their memories

it could be about something; what really sucks is when one panics about the uncomfortableness of panicing; those are hard to stop.

I suffer from a panic disorder.

I can be sitting watching television or driving down the road and then all of a sudden this weird hot-cold feeling will wash over me, my heart will start racing, and I have trouble breathing. It comes from out of the blue and there's nothing specific that I am panicking over -- other than the fact that I use to be convinced that the panic attack would kill me via a heart attack or stroke.

It is my understanding that anxiety attacks are generally less severe and shorter lived than panic attacks.

LOL SEXISM!

Sort of both.
The underlying cause is usually some kind of stress, often post-traumatic. And one usually doesn't realize that that's what they're panicking about, because the panic attack manifests as a [intense] general sense of panic, and often at seeminly random times. Hence the typical psychotherapy story where someone learns that they "never really got over" some past stress, and that's why they've been suffering from "mental illness". After changing the way they think about that stressor, they're "cured". (easier said than done)

I've had a few small "panic attacks" in the past... It feels like sudden rush of urgency/adrenaline inside of me that I can't control... I've had 2 or 3 panic attacks when I was older, though I don't remember now what was going on to cause them.
