Hatch, Little and Bunn has a guy. I once successfully counter-sued my douchebag landlord, but we had to do court-ordered mediation* first. The mediator was some lady with a weird Italian? name, I can't remember it though.
*that shit was $175/hr!!

if you end up going to court (something i realize you are trying to avoid) realize that north carolina as a whole, and counties with large universities in particular, have a tendency to be landlord-sympathetic

Just call the ACLU and tell them you are gay. That shit will be fixed with a quickness.

^^

I don't know North Carolina Landlord/Tenant Law...but it's State law...so it shouldn't matter what county you're in.

And in general, landlord/tenant law favors the tenant.

This is true, and my attorney told me as much. He said that in over 95% of his cases he represents the landlords. (I had a really good case though -- he took it on contingency)

Not for me. I'm compiling a list of some local options for someone else.

My apartment complex manager/staff are great. Which may be in part b/c I know most them outside of that role. Just got a new dishwasher & my carpet steam cleaned & new blinds in the past few months.

Thanks for that one indy, I've added it to the list.

i didn't say anything about the laws...in many case, disputes go to local magistrates and they tend to be sympathetic to landlords, not tenants

I'm not seeing that many sites that list landlord/tenant law, but many that list real estate law. Does the latter generally cover the former, or is that completely different?
