generally pretty useless, amirite? i mean, they go to the expense to put one in every new suburban home, but who actually uses these things?

on the other hand, i used mine tonight. first time in probably over a year. enjoyed a nice, relaxing half hour in a hot bath with some kind of buttermilk bath powder in it, a few candles lit and ocean music playing in the background. quite relaxing indeed.

but back to my original point, why do they bother making these at all?

because they're awesome. go from having a garden tub to a small-as-shit standard tub.

[Edited on June 26, 2010 at 10:25 PM. Reason : i, too, had a soak this evening, after moving today]

you listened to other kinds of nature sounds than just the ocean.

I was that girl standing outside of the bathroom window, peeking through the blinds and breathing really heavy. Participles.

I was actually gawking at him from the threshold of said bathroom.

so, in a tub....

at what point do you stop getting clean, and then start soaking in your own filth?

The garden tub is where we put our cat's litter box so they can't track litter everywhere.

Tells you how much we use ours.

as long as there's soap in the water, seems like you'd be good.

soap just breaks the surface tension of water, and binds to dirt, oil, etc...

it does not create some special bubble around your to protect you from filth.

I actually have a garden tub in my apartment. when i give the tour it is a talking point.

"and this is my bathroom. as you can see, I have a shower with a garden tub. Once I figure out the need for a garden tub I will most likely start using it"

lol @ the idea of hurriedly running the water and taking a quick bath in your garden tub in the morning before rushing out the door to work

^^^ the garden tub at our old place had an axillary hot water heater for the tub. It was like 20 gallons or something small. But it was mounted above the tub in a closet, which meant we could fill the tub in like 3 minutes (city+gravity). Something like 8gpm.

i should have clarified, IF i had a garden tub...

my actual tub was made for 1940s sized people, but my water heater is on the other side of the house so i still lose a good 3 minutes standing around waiting for the water to get hot before it even starts to fill the tub.
