So I sold my car last week. I let the family drive the car home (to Virginia) with the plate. They're waiting for the title. It will be sent to my bank, and I have to sign off on it and mail it to them. Then they say they'll send me the plate.

Problem is that I just bought a car, and I need to put a plate on it. I called them, and they said they won't send me the plate until they get the title. This means I have to pay extra to get a new plate on the car.

Seems weird that I have the most chips here (with the title) but yet I'm getting dicked around. I'm just too nice of a guy to talk tough with the mom on the phone.

what? you can't put your old plate on your new car anyway

go get your new car inspected, take the report straight to the dmv and get your new plate/registration. depending on the car you shouldn't be out more than 65 bucks and 2 hours, done and done.

Why don't you just facebook stalk the family and post terribly awkward messages on everything they post?

Did you tell them before they bought the car that it has a problem the dealer has yet to be able to fix even after putting in a new engine? I'm sure somewhere in your list of benevolent deeds that you're doing for this family you can find the twenty eight fucking dollars to get a new license plate.

I wouldn’t let some random person drive around with my plates just because if they get a red light camera ticket, i’m the one jumping through hoops to not pay for it.

don't worry, he sold the family a lemon. I'm sure he made off on that deal.

If you parent's paid for the title for your first car, I would let it slide...

I can't imagine any situation where I would let someone I don't know take my license plate Hope you don't end up with a bunch of red light tickets and shit.

Sounds like they are pretty nice seeing as how you did not even have the title when the transaction took place..............I would have been like hell no.

Lets face it if you got hit by a truck today they would have a car with no title and could not register it.

As long as they seem halfway respectable I have always let people drive away with my old plates on the promise that they will turn them in when they go to the DMV to transfer the title. It saves me from having to do it so I consider it to be win/win. I've only had a couple of people take me up on this although I've personally done it at least five times; maybe more.

Why am I not surprised that God would sell someone a car with problems, not disclose said problems, and bitch about being victimized over something petty?

Hey, the mechanic couldn't find anything wrong with the car. What was I supposed to do? For all I know, I was just crazy.
