As someone who lived in Va Beach for two years and worked in the tourism industry (ie Dairy Queen), fuck all tourists (especially French-Canadians).

I think we can mostly thank the "war on drugs" for that....

I guess murderers, muggers, rapists, etc. simply pose nowhere near the threat posed by drug dealers.

to be fair though our jail sentences are too long

I heard in Europe that jail is rare, and like a year is given for serious offenses, and the most heinous offenses get about 10 years
now if only European nations had fewer collateral consequences of criminal charges (idk whether they do) they would be even closer to having actual justice than we do
