haha, I was confused by the title. That being said...
1. Homeowner's insurance? 2. Tell them to look at goodwilll, etc.

I figured they were homeowners because renters insurance is basically free. I think I pay $85 a year for $25k worth of coverage. There is no reason not to have renters insurance. Homeowners insurance can get a little pricey though.

- Rental insurance is cheap. Still, I'd wager that most renters don't have it. - Home insurance policies are usually required by your lender to cover damage to the structure. - Even if you have an insurance policy, the payoff will likely neither be quick nor complete. Thus the need for short term help.
Are you willing to pick items up twoozles?

I would recommend them checking out the Freecycle in their area. I'm sure they could get tons of stuff that way. 7/13/2010 11:09:11 PM |

I appreciate the suggestions of what I should tell them to do, but this is not one of those situations. I should be able to pick things up with my car and if not I will arrange to have someone from the church pick them up. I will e-mail today to find out what has already been donated since yesterday, and I will try to PM those of you who have items sometime this afternoon. Thanks 7/14/2010 10:55:23 AM |

Thanks for all the help! I know they will really appreciate it. I am waiting to hear information about furniture because I think they may already have some of the bigger items donated, but toiletries and food items are a great need too!

^^^^ are you retarded or do you just like being a bitch? you have decided that because there is a church involved in helping people (what most churches SHOULD be doing) that now you can't be bothered?
are you afraid they'll accost you, tie you down, and cram jesus down your throat were you to drop off items? or did you never have anything of value to contribute in the first place?
i'll assume the latter, given your contributions to the rest of tww 7/15/2010 8:19:09 AM |

given her track record, i could probably show up to court in a gorilla suit and spit on the judge and i'd still win...that's if she could find a lawyer that she didn't piss off in some way before actually going to court 7/15/2010 9:31:04 AM |

Of all the "victims" I have seen come to churches for help, they either caused their situation or were double dipping on insurance and donations.
I just moved and have a bunch of stuff I need to get rid of, but I'll give it to a non-religious group that more carefully screens their clients. 7/15/2010 10:15:43 AM |

You speak of a more thorough screening process as if you knew what you were talking about. Where the devil did you get the idea that charities -any charity- has a comprehensive and thorough screening process?

I've gotta say, the one homeowner's insurance claim I was involved in was great. Lighting struck the tree behind my house, insurance paid us $500 to have it removed within a week, we removed it ourselves and pocketed the money. 7/15/2010 8:32:39 PM |
