I'm not certified, but I know a thing or three about it.

Just remember

All certified electricians are registered

But all registered electricians are not necessarily certified

If it's something small (<$500), Progress Energy has a program where you pay a few bucks a month extra on your bill, and you get up to $500 worth of electrical work for no additional cost.

Then just cancel the program after you've reached the $500 limit....but that's of no use of you don't have PE

is there a difference between certified and licensed?

I have a feeling she wants a "licensed electrical contractor" which I am not.

I might get that Homewire deal, have them install a ceiling fan and some new light fixtures, and then cancel it the next month. I could do it all myself, but I'd rather someone else crawl around in the 120 degree attic right now.

^ problem is they only allow $100 per year for ceiling fans and light fixtures, and there's a one month waiting period before they'll do anything

I want someone to install a ceiling fan fixture...

I could do it but my apt complex says i must have a 'licensed' electrician do it... they want me to show them thier papers and crap...

ugh.. guess i'll just take the fan back and get a stand up.
