lowes is cheaper. I got my grill from there and they assembled it and everything. I think they might price match, too

my girlfriend's dad is very crafty and just re-did his whole kitchen by himself and he strongly prefers home depot

Neither are good parts houses. If you'd ever had them count bolts and call three different stockboys to do a price check on washers while you tell them "they're 3 cents each" you'd understand the fundamental flaw. I've even offered them $20 extra when I'm in a hurry. Women don't belong in a parts store. Anywhere.

I feel really bad for knowledgeable tradesmen that have to work there. Such a waste of human knowledge.

I use Burke Bros whenever I can just to keep them in business.

9 out of 10 products I've picked up to buy at Lowes has been obviously restocked after a return

At first it wasn't a big deal to me until I brought home my new tiller and found that it too was a restock and that it was missing two critical bolts

It's become such a common occurrence that I rarely shop there anymore

This the lowes on walnut st. Fyi

nine out of ten? really? are you trying to say that 90% of the shit on their shelves is restocked? otherwise what was the point of that stat?

Haha, people run two stroke engines without oil all the time and then return them. Be happy all you were missing is a couple bolts.

LOWES == HOMEDEPOT

They don't have to compete for prices because they ARE the market. They just make it SEEM like they are competing by swaying the tree of "deals" from side to side.

or any other similar hardware store (briggs, burke brothers, etc). preferably a locally owned one, but whatever i'll take Ace over Lowe's or Home Depot.

if i absolutely HAD to pick, definitely home depot.

but anytime i've ever gone to either the employees i have encountered have NO FUCKING IDEA what they are talking about - like can barely point me in the right direction to a specific section. the last time i set foot in there (lowes) i had to argue with a man about drill bits (after asking 2 other employees first). he told me what i needed didn't exist. idiot.

Sometimes I go to both in the same trip, because the selection on certain items is different (fixtures, lighting, etc..).

If I am just looking for something I know both will have, like lumber, then I go to Lowes.

It probably varies a lot based on where you live and the quality of stores in that area. I have a Lowes and Home Depot right across the street from each other, and the Home Depot is kind of a shit hole. The store is smaller and the garden department is never kept up well.

They just built a new Lowes here a few miles from my house, and it is freaking sweet. The store is gigantic and is really nice.

Home Depot. Prices seem a little better, employees may be a little harder to find but they seem to have more of a chance of actually knowing something. Lately I find myself going to Lowe's more because there's one right up the street, but if they put a Home Depot anywhere in the vicinity I'll shop there.
