Clayton...

You have to drive like 30 minutes for a movie theater, and a tad longer for a mall.

The only thing to do after like 8PM is to hang out at wal mart or waffle house.

Possibly the MOST backwoods people in central NC (let's face it... eastern NC overall is worse in this regard).

Clayton has no real rivers or lakes though. It's just woods.

You might could argue it had redeeming values if the people who live there weren't so dumb overall.

<- is from Clayton

my dream retirement (currently...) is to live on the side of a forested mountain that overlooks a stream, with no one else in sight.

My parents live out there in Clayton. I like visiting their place but at night the barking dogs outside drive me crazy. My mom says they have owls though so that's a redeeming quality. There's also a really nice dentist out there if you need one.

Clayton isn't too bad. We live here in Garner and love it. Whenever I drive through Clayton, I tell my husband that I'd like to move out that way. I am NOT a city girl and keep trying to edge him further and further away from Raleigh/Cary.

I don't know what you mean by "I'm not a big city girl." Clayton is not the "country." If you're into the outdoors running, cycling, hiking, horseback riding whatever. Clayton sucks for all of these.

If you're trying to escape the hustle and bustle of big city life and have a quiet laid back existence to raise your family, you have got the wrong idea about Clayton. It's a suburb of Raleigh and a bad one at that.

or maybe you country folk aren't as country as you might think.

I am well aware that Clayton is not the country. I grew up the daughter of an Eastern NC tobacco farmer, but my husband is the son of a Richmond, VA lawyer. My husband is a city dweller and I'm working on him.

CITIES FTW!

outside the city ftw if you are in the mountains or somewhere really pretty in CO or new england. or possibly the beach.

clayton doesn't really do it for me.
