Deal
I have an interesting proposition. I will pay someone up to $150 to take over my AT&T Unlimited Data/voice contract. I say up to since I'm hoping people will bid what they're willing to take and whoever bids lowest will get it. If I get no bids, I'll just pay AT&T their ETFs and be done with it.

The contract has 2 lines and expires in September 2011. You can also take over just one line, although the amount I pay you would be half (i.e. up to $75 max).

Monthly fees on contract
It would be $130/mo for both lines. For just 1 line, it would be $65/mo.

Phone discounts
You'd be eligible for the "early upgrade" discount on both lines for an iPhone 4 (i.e. $399), or you could wait until May 2011 and at that point would be eligible for the full discount (just in time for iPhone 5 for $199).

I have 1 perfect-condition white iPhone 3GS 16 GB that I am otherwise selling for $300 (on eBay, they go for $300-350). I can decrease the purchase price by whatever amount the bids have reached plus $25 if you're taking over both lines (i.e. you could get the 3GS for as little as $125). The AT&T rep told me that a "no-commitment-pricing for the 8 GB 3GS is $549.99, so this is an awesome deal if you want to have the unlimited contract and the old ETF.

TWW Discount
I only have until Friday night to cancel, so I'm trying whatever I can to get some interest on it. I'll post this to Craigslist as well, and I'm offering a 5% discount to TWWers (i.e. if a Craigslist person will take the contract for $50, I'll give a TWWer $55 for it).

Interesting proposition...what's motivating this? A switch to android?

Although if u you think about it... If someone wanted two lines, why wouldn't they just sign a new contact and get two iphone4's for 400?

^^^^Yeah, switched to Evo. Loving Android, although the Evo's battery sucks compared to the 3GS when I have to use 3G or 4G. I might trade to the Epic when it comes out.

I agree as far as the switch, except that Unlimited Data isn't available for new contracts anymore. The only way you can get Unlimited Data is to take over someone else's contract who has it. Even someone who has it can't get additional lines with it without taking over someone else's contract.

^^Sorry. I had to make it as detailed as possible and still some people have questions. When I made it too detailed on Craigslist, no one emailed me, when it was simple, I'd have to answer 12 emails from people whenever they thought of a new question.

^Just Unlimited Data. Sorry about that, I can see how that could be misleading. The only reason I did "/voice" was because I had penny-pinchers on Craigslist wanting data by itself so they could just use Skype.

It is "Unlimited Data" and has 550 minutes of voice and no texts. The plan doesn't really matter though apart from the unlimited data. Just go on AT&T's website and pick the plan you want and you can get that. It doesn't modify your contract to change the plan. I was on 900 and downgraded to 550 and it didn't change anything.

The main thing is, you're getting unlimited data, which isn't available anymore. I have one friend that canceled his home connection and tethers his laptop to his iPhone. Before he did that, he used to use Air Video to stream entire TV show seasons that he downloaded via bittorrent to his phone. He'd watch them whenever he took a break from studying.

Wow that unlimited data is gonna have to be crazy important to forgo the two new iphone4s for 400 and instead get next to nothing for signing a two line contact. Not to mention there's no guarantee that you'll get the unlimited data forever or anything.

^Well, it's worth $30/mo for me (difference between 5 GB/mo usual usage and the 2 GB/mo plan) on each line.

You're not forgoing an iPhone 4, you can still get one, just at $399 instead of $199. If you use 5 GB+/mo on each line, you'll make up the difference in 6.5 months. Otherwise, you can wait for iPhone 5, which will hopefully not drop calls when you "hold it that way." Also, if they kick you off Unlimited Data, it's a "Materially Adverse" change, which allows you to cancel with no ETF. Pretty much win-win, unless you want to buy into the carriers' idea that charging you a tiny bit less for way less data while data usage is ever-increasing is a smart move. It seems many already have...

Also, I had someone set to take it over yesterday prior to placing this ad, but 2 people at AT&T lied to us and, of course, no company honors what they say anymore. Even when you have recordings of people saying things, they don't do shit. Makes me want to go to law school.

The one rep said people could drop voice and just have data, and there were even notes that he said it in their system. The other guy, who's a rep I've worked with before, said that anyone who took over would be eligible for the full discount on the phone. So I'm happy to give AT&T their old ETF amount and never deal with them again. Once they lose the iPhone exclusivity, Verizon will get back to pwning them anyway.

^Lol, yeah, pretty much. I bought a T-mobile SIM just to prove my old iPhones were unlocked before selling them on fleabay, and I got better voice quality with it just calling their activations line.

Finally canceled the other night and I got disconnected on 611 on the 3GS. Then it dropped 2-3 more attempts and I finally gave up and called them on the Evo Glad to be rid of AT&T and the iPhones.
