Are my only responsibilities as the seller to:
1. Transfer the title (me and buyer sign, notary notarizes, odometer reading, etc) 2. Turn in my license plate
Is everything else on the buyer, ie new tag, registration, etc or do I need to do anything else? 7/23/2010 3:52:54 PM |

Is there not some damage disclosure form you have to fill out, or can that be accomplished by simply checking the boxes on the back of the title if the vehicle was never in a major collision, flood, etc? 7/23/2010 3:57:54 PM |

I'm not going to call you a "fucking idiot" or whatever you'd do if I posted this thread, but here is what I found for you:
http://www.ncdot.org/dmv/vehicle_services/registrationtitling/vehiclesSellingDonating.html
Quote : | "Are you selling/donating a vehicle?
When selling a vehicle or donating a vehicle the following items are required on the back of the North Carolina title: -Purchaser's name and address -Date of sale or date of delivery -Seller's signature and hand printed name -Odometer Reading -Notarization -Damage Disclosure
For more information regarding selling/donating a vehicle you may call 919-715-7000.
If you are selling your vehicle and you are not transferring the plate to another vehicle, the plate needs to be turned in at your local Vehicle & License Plate Renewal Office before you cancel your insurance.
For general information on registering your vehicle view our How do I title & register a vehicle? Section." |

Not a requirement, but definitely get a bill of sale for your records. I would include the wording "AS IS" and "paid in full" and get the buyer to sign and date it. 7/23/2010 4:56:26 PM |

I'm pretty sure the old plate of the car I bought 3 years ago is still in the trunk.
You think the DMV cares? 7/24/2010 1:26:58 AM |

Returning the plate gives you the right to reclaim a prorated property tax payment from the county. 7/25/2010 1:50:02 PM |
