WTB amp to push front/rear speakers in my 08 Acura TL......

^ ebay. I got a refurbished Infinity REF475a amp for $61 shipped and a REF1600a for $72 shipped from the harmanaudio ebay store. Just look for the manufacturers ebay stores. You can get a lot of the refurbished stuff for dirt cheap and they come with everything and a full warranty like new stuff.

Also, I hope you plan on rewiring the speakers and not use that small 16-18 awg factory wire. And what speakers do you have in there? Try to get an amp with a higher RMS than the RMS of the speakers you have that way you can have the amp turned down some and have the possibility for more powerful speakers in the future.

I'll just cover a lot here, but I don't know why

1.) what speakers (ratings) are you pushing with the amp?
2.) what ^ said about getting an amp with an RMS slighly over the speaker's ratings, say around 20%. you don't want your amp to be struggling with just normal play, so you want extra power to have clean power.
3.) You can try ebay and probably save a ton; I hate ebay/paypal, so I use manufacturers, amazon, or discount sites for cheap shit (such as sonicelectronix)
4.) Depending on your amp/speaker ratings, you'll want between 12-16AWG speaker wire, probably 14 will do. 16 will be fine if your speakers are weak. I wouldn't go smaller than 16 though.
5.) don't get cheap on the amp wiring kit, cheap wires are no fun.
6.) route power/remote wires away from speaker wires/rca cables
7.) you'll want a 4 channel amp, stick with brands you've heard of and know aren't garbage.
8.) how are you wiring into the amp? does you HU have preouts? line level converter? hi-level input? speaker level input?

Appreciate it...Was trying to avoid ebay, but may be what I do...I just have the factory speakers in there now...Not sure of their rating...I'd imagine in the 125W-150W range, which is not what they get from the 225W stereo..just want to boost them a little more...After that put a small sub in to get a little more added bass..nothing too crazy..

^^Im trying to find exact specs now..factory radio.appreciate the info..i'll prolly let the pro's take care of the installation..getting behind that stereo looks like a pain in the ass..but i plan on using a good wiring kit...like u said, nothing worse than shitty wires...

getting behind the stereo isnt the hard part, running and keeping all the wires hidden is where is gets tricky. When I ran them in my truck, I took out the seats, console, door panels, front of the dash and carpet. And sonicelectronix is a good place. I can vouch for them. Got all infinity kappas for my doors and dash for $150 shipped for all 4.

And if you are going to take it somewhere to get the stuff installed. Might as well replace the factory speakers while they have it all apart. Do it right the first time and it will save you a lot of money. Trust me, I have learned my lesson on that one.

I ran 12 awg to all my speakers just cause thats what I had on hand. And dont think just cause its a small car that 50ft of wire will be enough, those wires will be snaked in and out of places so you will use more wire than you expect.


On a side note, can youre factory alternator hold up to the increased draw you will be putting on it? 4 channel amps draw more power than sub amps. At least mine does. I had to upgrade my alternator because it couldnt handle the amps at a moderate volume.

Actually just found out stock speakers, although sound pretty decent are 25W @ 10%THD...that's pretty shitty..def abt to upgrade speakers & amp..may do a 4channel but might go up to a 6channel so I can keep the stock 5.1 effect..

Soooo if you have a 4+channel amp out there let me know....
