so... my daughter dumped an entire can of fish into the tank last night and all my fish are dying.

I have a huge pleco (at least 6 inches) and a pink kissing gourami still kicking. They are free to the first person who can come pick them up tonight. If no one wants them and they make it through the night I'll trade them in a pet store tomorrow.

email me at wisteria79@yahoo.com and I'll reply via my cell phone. I am in the middle of cleaning out my 44 gallon tank so I won't be on here.

I live off Lake Wheeler Rd.

casualties included my two full grown clown loaches full grown angelfish, another gourami, giant danio's and tetra's

not just these fish... its dangerous to overfeed any fish. this was an accident of course.

Quote :
"Uneaten food decomposes quickly, releasing an abundance of organic and inorganic compounds that wreak havoc on the aquarium's chemistry. cloudy water, algae growth, fungus, mold, parasites, low dissolved oxygen, high nitrates, declining pH, and other chemical problems are also common in the overfed aquarium.
"

I had over a dozen bottom feeders in there who normally did a good job of taking care of any excess feed.

I normally keep the fish feed out of my daughters reach but left it out

thanks for the education...i had some fish when i was young and am thinking about setting up an aquarium before that's why i was curious.....

i didn't realize the effect of the decomposing food affects the fish so fast, like overnight.
