Croweology, celebrating the 20th anniversary of the release of Shake Your Moneymaker, drops on 8/3. All-acoustic album...20 tracks....remasters of their biggest hits, deep tracks and some covers.
Quote : | ""The best rock & roll song, in my opinion," he says, "is Rod Stewart's 'Every Picture Tells a Story.' That's an acoustic song. But the drums are thumping. The whole thing is a chug. That, Zeppelin III, the Rolling Stones' Beggars Banquet - those were our reference points. This is a surprisingly uptempo record."" |

this album is worth it's own thread
I just listened to their new version of "My Morning Song" and it is AMAZING, imo
stellar gospel interlude around the 4 minute mark

are you saying that based off seeing their live shows? and the southern harmony and musical companion and amorica are both fantastic albums.
Quote : | "BUT THEY'RE SO ORIGINAL" |
i don't think anyone would make the claim that they're original.

i've never really understood all the love for amorica

but i'd rather listen to the stones 7/30/2010 12:01:01 AM |

amorica is the better album between those two in my opinion. "descending" is one of my favorite album closers of all time.

i wouldn't sum up the whole album as a stones rip. sure, a lot of their earlier material is heavily influenced by the stones, faces, humble pie, zeppelin, the band, etc, but i think looking at the album that way does it a huge disservice, especially since the addition of marc ford did more for their sound compared to shake your moneymaker.7/30/2010 12:09:37 AM |

Does this ncstatetke dipshit work for this atrocity of an amphitheater?
Every god damn thread he's trying to talk up acts that are playing there, specifically. If so, isn't there a rule against adverstising? 7/30/2010 1:00:31 AM |

i can't imagine anyone would legitimately talk up the slab of concrete with a t-shelter
but i can't imagine anyone would pay to see the black crowes, either
so i think he's just an idiot ] 7/30/2010 1:26:07 AM |

judging by the fact that you didn't acknowledge the question earlier, this is probably because you haven't actually seen them live. i'd love to think less of the band purely for the fact that ncstatetke likes them and his taste is horrible, but they really do have a lot of good stuff.7/30/2010 1:52:03 AM |

i saw them live a very long time ago (when audley freed was with them), and i wasn't particularly impressed
from what i understand, the kind of show i saw is not the kind of thing they do any more
from those reports, though, i've also deduced that i would not enjoy the kind of thing they do now simply because it's not my style
as i said, i don't think they're bad, just boring 7/30/2010 3:22:02 AM |

is this because they've been lumped in with the jam band scene?8/3/2010 3:26:31 AM |

ncstatetke does not work for an amphitheater, and just because he likes a band that you don't doesn't make him a dipshit. 8/5/2010 6:55:56 PM |

the Black Crowes are awesome
I almost bought the amp that Audley Freed used to record Peace Pipe. Now I wish I had done it, but at the time, I barely had the money for it, and the amp had been ridden HARD (like, it had caught on fire, etc)...I knew if it broke, I wouldn't be able to afford to fix it, haha.
and My Morning Song is a fantastic tune, and I like that acoustic version (thought not as much as the balls-out electric version) 8/6/2010 10:43:01 PM |

I like the Black Crowes just fine, actually.
He's a dipshit for a whole host of other reasons, most concerning his constant bumping of all threads related to the shitty booking at the amphitheater and claiming the bands being booked are even marginally decent when viewed as a whole.
Hence, my question whether he worked for the venue, because if he didn't, he's a dipshit/hearing impaired.8/8/2010 12:27:37 PM |

one of the best concerts I've been to in years
decent venue and amazing set list
My favorite part of the concert was when they played whoa mule followed by thorn in my pride but the entire electric set was amazing too. 9/18/2010 8:25:40 PM |
