if youre looking for touristy stuff, hit up manhattan (big buildings, wtc site, time square, museums, central park)

most importantly, get some hilal, i forget the street but its somewhere around columbus/55th. delicious (its street meat -- chicken, beef, rice, and some horseradish-ish sauce).

Go to the Highline during the day. It was an old monorail type rail that they turned into a park. It's really cool.

Go to some of the Piers on the West side. They turn some into bars/restaurants so they're fun to visit during a summer day/night.

Interesting. As someone who spent 18 years in the shadow of NYC and spent most weekends growing up in an outer borough it never bothered me. Pretty obvious what he meant.

Plus anyone who is from up there just calls it the city or refers to where they are by neighborhood name.

Do you know how many time I've been asked what part of the city I'm from when I say I have family in NY?
this is how I knew that people would know what I was talking about.

for those who where looking for things to do in the rest of new york.

Fishing, Swimming, Hunting, Camping, Bowling, etc... really nothing special... actually the only thing there is special is that there is nothing... My cousins' school ( yes all my 12 cousins went to 1 school that serves 6 townships ) year book from K-12 is smaller than my middle school (6-8) year book.
