This looks like it's going to be a fun movie.

^ Yeah, I haven't seen this point explained. I'll hazard a guess that the prehistoric piranhas were in hibernation or some sort of suspended state.
I suppose the piranhas could have been sealed in some sort of geological cavity that had an opening large enough for a food source to enter but small enough that they couldn't escape. This scenario seems a stretch--but, hell, the Disney empire was built on the premise of a talking mouse, so. . . . 8/2/2010 9:06:40 PM |

August 20th? It seems like this would be the kind of movie has to come out in late June or early July... with enough time to give everyone on their way to the beach reason to think twice
Though it looks like part 2 came out in November? So I guess they improved their timing somewhat. 8/3/2010 7:20:50 AM |

If they have been locked away in an underwater cavern for 1000s of years, despite the lack of food or whatever, I'd think they would be blind too. 8/3/2010 9:07:33 AM |

are there any largely misunderstood animals left to make a blockbuster movie out of?
maybe we can make a summer blockbuster thriller about hookworms
in Three Dimensions.

guys this is going to be a good movie.
there is still time to hop on the piranha love train, so you can tell your ignorant friends that you told them so.
Adam Scott and Richard Dreyfus and Ving Rhames and Christopher Lloyd and Eli Roth and Jerry O'Connell?

From what I’ve seen, it has a sense of humor about itself, and it’s also really scary and really, really violent. I would call it a popcorn movie from the planet Popcorn. It’s just all boobs, blood, and—I don’t know, what’s the other “b”? Barbecue." |

^ Nah, I think movies should be considered kind of like food in the food pyramid. The candy's at the top because you should eat a smaller amount of it.
A little bit of campiness and silliness in a movie--if it's done well--never hurt anyone. There's still room for whatever highbrow or other films you may chose to see. 8/3/2010 6:36:48 PM |

it's amazing how popular gimicky movies can be when they obviously don't care about the quality of the product. i mean expendables was terrible, but it was awesome just because. this will be the same way 8/19/2010 5:01:05 PM |

The original movie scared me so bad as a child that I was afraid of the water for the longest time. It's like you weren't safe ANYWHERE and I would have nightmares about those freakin' fish. 8/19/2010 10:23:59 PM |

I just saw it in 3D. Their was no 2D version. The 3D was actually worth it, especially with the 2 nude girls swimming in the lake. Christopher Lloyd was great as always. Lots of cheesy fun!

I don't understand the lack of love for this movie. It was easily the most entertaining 90 minutes I've spent in a movie theater in a really long time. I loved how self-aware the movie was. Did people go in expecting it to be scarier? less campy? I mean, it had tons of gore, tons of boobs, and tons of laughs. I thought it was great. 8/22/2010 7:53:54 PM |

they need to have used this song somewhere in one of the movies also IMO people oughta use the etymologically-correct pronunciation "peer-AN-ya" (the Portuguese "nh" is the equivalent to the Spanish "ñ") 8/22/2010 10:09:37 PM |

You'd think, but if history has anything to tell us it is that they will learn how to fly in the sequel.
Here's a clip of the flying piranha killing some black dude just to show you how awesome that movie actually is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yN8uUZZWtSk
btw...I had no fucking idea James Cameron directed that flick.

It may well be fun, and I may see it at the dollar theater or something, but I have a hard time shelling out eight bucks for what is essentially a Syfy Original Movie with higher production values. Hell, half the fun of the Syfy movies is how awful the effects (and the writing, and the acting) are. 8/23/2010 9:47:43 AM |
NumbWall All American 1613 Posts user info edit post |
^ it's definitely better than the syfy original movies. those movies lack the self-awareness this one does. they know they're bad, but they don't typically pick fun at themselves the way this one does.
and this movie will SUCK in 2D at the dollar theater. shell out the 10 bucks and go see it... you won't regret it 8/23/2010 12:57:21 PM |
