Car: 2003 Mazda 6i
So, my wife's car has been stuttering lately. Couldn't figure out what was wrong, so I took it to a shop. They couldn't read the codes. So, I took it to dealership. They just called me back and quoted $460 (out the door) for PCV hose replacement and "fuel system clean-up". Is that even a fair price?
I need instructions for PCV hose replacement on 2003 Mazda 6. If it's easy, I'll probably just go buy the part myself and do it. Let me know your thoughts.
EDIT: I was able to google some instructions... but doesn't look easy... Probably an all day kind of job. Gonna have to remove intake manifold. Might just chuck forward the $460

OK, so i did the repair myself. Took me 6.5 hours + $10 PCV valve + $5 PCV hose + $9 other stuff
The Good News: Hose & PCV valve was replaced. There was a coolant line going under there so I replaced it while I was at it as well.
The Bad: Drove it Saturday night and Sunday. Everything runs good. But, this morning on the way to work, my wife calls and says CEL is back on and it's sputtering again.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Was there anything wrong with the PCV hose you replaced? 8/9/2010 12:56:30 PM |

No, nothing wrong with PCV... just the hose was busted. But, went ahead and replaced it anyways.
I'm guessing maybe I didn't put something back together properly? Or something came loose in the process of driving over the weekend?

Just wanted to inform The Garage that I was able to finally fix the issue this weekend. I just didn't put things back together properly. There was a loose hose.
