today marks 10 months with no meat, fried foods, alcohol, soft drinks, weed/cigars, candy, donuts, etc.

my coworker was a total dickhole and had a delicious hamburger sitting on my desk when i got back to my desk around lunchtime, surrounded by krispy kreme donuts and a bag of skittles

the cravings haven't subsided, but im in the best damn shape of my life. here's to another 10 months

Meat's not bad for you. The rest of the stuff on that list I avoid though

why would you not eat meat? That makes no sense. Who told you meat was bad?

you don't have to go with NONE of that stuff to be in good shape. You can have meat, fried foods, alcohol, candy, sweets, etc......as long as you can control yourself and only do it occasionally and in proportion. I've dropped 28 lbs since May of 09. I still have the occasional soft drink, eat meat regularly, drink a couple beers every now and again. I'm 5'9 and went from 194 to my now 166. I did it through control and working out.

^ yeah, I lost between 20 and 30 pounds in a couple months just by exercising a little self control. I've always exercised, but I used to eat shit food for every meal. I still eat shit food all the time, but exactly half as much. I order the same food I used to at restaurants, I just eat half/take the other half with me. I save money and lose weight at the same time.

I can't cook anything remotely appetizing so I don't eat anything at home other than cereal and the like.

Were they Krispy Kreme doughnuts? Did you look in the box?

"According to police, the manager put the cash in the iconic polka dot doughnut box as a safety measure against theft before he intended to make the deposit.

Apparently the clerk was unaware of the manager's routine and accidentally gave the wrong box to a customer at the drive-thru window, says Fayetteville Police Sgt. Dan Grubb. "

maybe it was the weed that made me eat all of the above in excess

its been an interesting experiment, and a challenge in self control not to indulge in these treats. amazingly by cutting all that stuff out im up about 20 lbs to 158, from my lowest point last summer.

when i give it up i look forward to ordering the biggest new york strip i can buy

People who are healthy still mostly die under 100 years of age.

You'll miss out on 75 years of good food for nothing. You only live once.

Why don't you have one now? Stop letting these items control you and just practice self control. only have a little each week and enjoy life.

true, but if you have none of it, you will definitely be healthier than if you have a little here and there (with the possible exception of proper good meat).

note:

physical shape != health (in some cases yes, but not necessarily)

As long as sweet tea doesn't count as sweets I could probably swing that. I would need a monthly pepsi though.

I wonder if I could do it for a year... let's see:

Fried foods, alcohol, soft drinks, weed/tobacco/drugs, candy, donuts: Current intake = nil

Meat: Current intake = 4-7 servings/week, mostly tuna, sardines, chicken

Dark chocolate, [proper] desserts, ice cream, etc: Current intake = 2-3 servings/week

So yeah, I think I can do it. Only thing is, I drink tea (hot) daily, and I add sugar, so that's something I can't give up.
