I'm convinced that TWC intentionally cripples Internet speeds so that people can't feasibly switch to online video sites to replace their TV viewing.

It's a racket.

why cant YOU feasibly replace cable with your internet? i can with TWC with their $35/month plan. Netflix + Playon + PS3 Media Server is really all you need and there's no lag.

Because i have an HDTV with surround sound, and to stream or even download this type of content would be painful even with 10mbps sustained downloads.

im willing to sacrifice true HD quality for an HD codec that still looks amazing and can stream well, so yes to suck down true hd and surround quality would be expensive but most people dont need to watch most of their programming in glorious HD anyway (mostly comedy shows)

Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification (DOCSIS) is what allows the cable company to feed you Internets; DOCSIS3 is what let the Internets go zoom
