Same. With multiple websites. Whenever I procrastinate I always end up clicking on cnn, slashdot, tww and a few others over and over again, expecting different results even though its 3 am.

it's not something make a conscious decision on, i just finish looking at something, my hand moves the mouse to the new tab and i just open things without realizing i already have them open. before i really noticed i was doing it i could look up at my tabs and sometimes see like 5 facebooks open and stuff like that. my brain just says "what, not doing anything? lets open facebook over and over!"

^^^Dude, some links open a new tab, some don't. Computers these days are fast enough that the transition of a page and the opening of a new tab is faster than our threshold of time sensitivity. Therefore we wouldn't know the difference unless we looked at the tab bar.

It's not links opening the new tab, it's my hand and mouse. I just end up hitting new tab and hitting facebook on my newtab page over and over. Or more lately it's tww over and over and over.

Open up the following tabs in this order, and leave them up all day: my CHI team internal webspace, my internal homepage, google, cnn


When reading a WALL O TEXT:
I always find myself highlighting from the beginning, and moving the cursor down one line as I read to keep my place

When TWWing, I'll often see something I want to reply to...just not right now... so I'll open up a reply in another tab and let it set there as a reminder.
Also, I'll start typing out a reply to something, finish what I was typing, then just decide I don't want to post that and go elsewhere.

First I get comfortable in my chair and I open up firefox. It takes me straight to google.com so I change the address to gmail.com. I hit ctrl+T and open a new tab and type http://www.thewolfweb.com and hit enter. With my right hand, I guide the cursor on the screen via a mouse to different threads. Eventually I get 2 fingers in there and I put some vaseline on my other hand. Then I start rubbing my penis.
