I've read through the tech talk thread, but I would just like some opinions from casual users on an ipad vs a laptop. I've got a laptop that I like, and I'm just wondering if there would be any value to having an ipad as well.

My main reason for getting it would be browsing the net/reading while in bed, as a laptop can be a little unwieldy while lying in bed getting ready to go to sleep. The problem with using it a reader it seems, is that a lot of people have trouble staring at an LCD for extended periods of time.

Also, how's battery life when using it as a reader? Can I set there for several hours at a time reading a book?

I love mine. I watch netflix on it in bed and use it to surf the net. I only charge it every 4 or 5 days. Would recommend.

I use mine for porn and stocks. Also youtube, ebay and magic the gathering. Only complaint is no chinrest.

Ipad in bed seems like it would be a hassle compared to laptops.

You have to actually hold it yourself, and typing on it while laying down seems like it would be much harder than typing on a keyboard.

I thought about the ipad once, then i realized it was just an oversized iphone that couldn't make calls and (at the time don't know about now) could only run one app at a time

I've got a case that allows the iPad to prop up making it easy to sit on the bed and not hold.

I do not personally know anyone that has one, and coming from someone who works in the IT field, I find that kind of odd, as I work around quite a few apple-philes

Aside from my iPod, it's the only apple product I own. I've been against all their stuff, but the iPad is rad.

Great battery life.

I use mine for casual web browsing, youtube, showing pictures, and I put a ton of tv shows on there when I travel.
