Quote :
"Dubstep's early roots are in the more experimental releases of UK garage producers, seeking to incorporate elements of drum and bass into the South London-based 2-step garage sound. These experiments often ended up on the B-side of a white label or commercial garage release.[4][7][8] Dubstep is generally instrumental. Like another, more vocal garage hybrid, grime, the genre's feel is commonly dark; tracks frequently use a minor key and can feature dissonant harmonies such as the tritone interval within a riff. Other distinguishing features often found are the use of samples, a propulsive, sparse rhythm,[9] and an almost omnipresent sub-bass. Some dubstep artists have also incorporated a variety of outside influences, from dub-influenced techno such as Basic Channel to classical music or heavy metal."

But listening to the first 15 seconds of that song in OP makes me want to off myself

I feel like that electro sample at the top of the track was used for the sake of humor

thus the title "Electro Wank"

I'm sorry, did I confuse you? The track in the OP fucking sucks, the production values are the definition of amateur. It's quite clear that you don't know a god damn thing about music. Loop the worst 4 bars, created in less than 5 minutes, and this is what you get. Just because you're unable to recognize a cheap time morphed beat that really has no 'flow' (I can tell that concept escapes you) doesn't mean the rest of us can't. Dissonant harmonies can be very important parts of many songs, but only when used properly. "dissonant harmonies" are also known as noises that people without musical understanding, or skills, create.

The Benga and DJ fresh tracks aren't too bad, but they sure as fuck are not innovative.

for real?

is that what Schoenberg, Profokiev and Stravinsky were up to?

^^please, post one of your creations

also, tracks don't need to be innovative or complicated in order to be enjoyed, and I know a thing or two about music

I'd also like to note that I think it is totally appropriate for "amateur production" to come out of a genre rooted in UK garage

"Dissonant harmonies can be very important parts of many songs, but only when used properly." Way to skip over this.

Or the whole, but the track in the OP is not an example of this, at all.

Okay, if you want something that uses some of the techniques of dubstep, set to a different tempo and time signature, here: http://yirka.info/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/run.mp3 I created the track over two years ago, and yes it has several issues that bother me, but it took a damn sight more time and thought than the first track itt. The website is not mine. THIS IS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE DUBSTEP. Maybe I should say that again, many of you have trouble with reading comprehension.

Nice, the dumb bitch that thinks that first song is good has a problem. Again, I do not make dubstep, although I could easily. I'm not interested in fast tempo bullshit that doesn't take any time OR SKILLS
to create.

I enjoy the faster tempo and lower production value stuff (like punk rock) because it is to my taste

taste is a transitory thing, its not universal

I would think someone "grown up" like yourself would have better tastes in music.

But you're right, I am being too aggressive. I'm not trying to dis the whole genre, it's just when people produce tracks like that it tends to annoy me. I will listen to more tracks if you feel like posting them and just stfu if I have negative things to say.

I guess when I consider the first track with all types of music in mind, it's not really that bad at all. At least it's interesting.

I will again go on my rant about people saying what other people enjoy in music blah blah. The whole point of music is to entertain. If the guy enjoys listening to it and wants to share it there is no need to blast him about it. Everyone has their own particular things they enjoy in music thats the whole fucking point. I know I damn for sure listen to a lot of stuff posted on here and think it sounds like total shit, but thats because it doesnt happen to be what I enjoy. /rant

this stuff sorta reminds me of the bass tapes my high school bf would play in his car...

some of it was really cool...some of it was...well...not

i can pretty much listen to every song listed except the first one...i don't care for it...but i'm not going to throw a bitch fit and tell you what an idiot you are for liking it...

that would be like you going ape shit on me for liking texas/folk/traditional singer/songwriter music...which i LOVE

it's not for everybody...but i find most anything can be enjoyed live when you're caught up in the experience of it all...

my biggest issue with this music is my same issues with jam bands....it tends to get a bit tedious at some point...but i don't have a very long attention span so it's hard for me to concentrate on heavily instrumental music... even though i guess dubstep isn't exactly instrumental...but i think you get what i'm saying

[Edited on August 25, 2010 at 9:38 PM. Reason : i do REALLY like jamaican dub music though and prefer dubstep that sounds relatively similar]

I must have been trippin' earlier. The first track still sucks, and I really couldn't give less of a fuck what any of you think.
Come on th3oretecht, post some shit you made, since you "know a thing or two about music". ^th3bitchmade?

Don't misunderstand, I post to put people straight. If you are out of line, you better believe I will call you out. I'm sure as fuck not here to pad/socialize or whatever the fuck you people are wasting time on here for. TWW is a minor source of information relevant to this area, occasionally interesting and informative. The rest of it consists of racism jokes (how many fucking threads do you bitches need to make about chicken and watermelon? LOLZ GUYZ YOU ARE SO CLEVER!) and threads made by other idiots, just like this one, which I am again bumping...Funny how this shit happens.
Oh no! Am I being too aggressive again? Well go hang out with the annoying HS kids that also just 'discovered' dubstep. I know a bunch of you are itching to post one of those god damn cat pictures or some other shit you didn't make about how this post makes you feel.

V: Pad away, bitches.

I really enjoyed the dubstep camp at Transformus

you don't REALLY appreciate the music until its vibrating your innards

those bass frequencies get you right around the general penis/vagina area

I mean I love me some hip hop, but beyond that I can't get into anything other than rock. I'm just a guitar/bass/drum fan.

that electronica stuff just doesn't do anything for me. even if i was playing this through my stereo, i think i'd still hate it.

its not so new

but I never really gave a shit about it until I had my genitals liquified by a woofer at Transformus

but yeah I guess its a hipster thing since Pitchfork writes shit about it and anything mentioned on there has hipster taint on it
