^ Not on this year. The 400EX got reverse sometime around 2005.
These things are light and you can hop off and snatch the rear end around pretty easily when you do get in a bind. I'd love to own one just like this, but I barely ride the Honda Ute that I have right now.

^^It has a custom reverse on this model. You want to back up, put your size 12's on the front tires and do the Fred Flintstone in reverse. Viola, reverse...

It is extremely light, easy to throw around.

I'll do $1900 if someone picks it up by the weekend. I got another fourwheeler on the way, this one needs to go.

Where do you ride something like this? I had family land and neighbors' farmland to ride on when I was a teenager and had a quad...I don't know where I'd ride it, now. Will they let you ride quads at motocross tracks? You could go to off-road parks, but I'd rather have a 4x4 utility quad for rockcrawling, going up steep, rutted hills, and slogging through mud.

As many of these as are out there, I can't imagine that all of those people have hundreds of acres of family land to rage around on.

There's probably a ton of places, but these come to mind:

Busco Beach would probably be the closest to you. Don't get run over by a drunk.

NCMP in Louisburg has a few tracks and some trails.

Brushy Mountain:

Lake Gaston Motocross:

Didn't Croatan National Forest open some ORV trails back up this year?

Probably a ton more that I don't know about.

yeah, i don't know. hell, i live in the croatan. again, if they're like OHV trails I've been on before, I'd rather have a utility quad...although motocross on a quad would probably be pretty fun.

I've got a Honda Rancher 400 and, prior to that, I had a Polaris Scrambler 400. Both were push button 2x4/4x4 models. I really never have to put either one in 4x4 during normal trail rides in Eastern NC. Nearly every trail I've come across has a slightly less muddy detour around the nastiest parts. You're not the only person on a sport quad out there.

Both ATVs would run right through holes that came over the top of the tires and to the mid points in my calves in 2WD mode. The only times I have absolutely needed 4x4 were in West Virginia doing stream crossings where the water went over the top of my seat and getting stuck would mean hydro-locking the engine. A 2x4 with good tires will go just about anywhere. Good tires with big blocks are crucial though. We had to drop a guy who had a 4x4 quad with near-bald tires in West Virginia one time because he literally had to be towed up every moderate hill.

I picked up a Rancher 350 2x4 with Mud-Lite tires on it today. Not to worried about not having 4x4, seems like this one should do fine in all but the worst holes.

^^^ Yeah, I had a Fourtrax 200 when I was kid/teenager. It would go through/over ridiculous stuff.

Still, I'd want a 4x4 unless I was going to rage on trails or motocross tracks.

Yep. 2wd quads will go more places than most would think so long as the mud holes aern't too deep and the hills aern't extremely steep and slippery. I had a 350 Warrior and a TRX 250X (both manual-clutch 2wd sport machines) and it was a rare occasion when I couldn't find a way through or around most any obstacle. Either one would handily wade across foot-deep sandy/muddy-bottomed creeks and scale steep highway/railroad embankments.

However, the 4x4 quads are much more capable when in very slippery, steep or soft-bottomed stuff, and have much better protection from mud slung up by the tires.

I have the one u guys are talking about, actually bought it this year to get back into riding (was cheap and in very very good condition). I put new tires on it and it has not failed me once, and Ive taken it through some shit. can pop up and wheelie at the drop of a hat too lol. Some of the trails I ride on around here are very very narrow in spots and I cant see how a larger atv would fit through them without some major rubbing.
